dancinman66 Posted October 16, 2011 #26 Share Posted October 16, 2011 Hi there even in Australia we have that issue any ship cruising past western australia is not permitted to have casinos open duty free also varies depending on the cruise and when bars may open - although that one has changed more recently in western australia that can mean 4 days with no casinos does not bother me as that is something I never use, but others go nuts pays to just research first if those things are important happy cruising Greg:)
CruznTom Posted October 17, 2011 #27 Share Posted October 17, 2011 Thanks Brigittetom for your reply which confirms Bell Boy's post regarding when the casino (and the shops on board) are open for business. I've never been on a transatlantic cruise, but I am rather suprised that the ship has to be in the middle of the Atlanic before you can gamble. Drinking is another matter entirely.:D:rolleyes: Regards, -S. Brigitte thought you had to be kidding. The casino opens within hours of sailing on transatlantics whether leaving from NY or Southampton.

I was promised a return call Friday it is now Monday but why should I be surprised. I did use a very large travel agency with certiifed Cunard reps and guess what the travel agent herself was suprised. BTW the taxing authority is HMRC, decding if I should contact them or not.... StarFlyr Posted October 20, 2011 #32 Share Posted October 20, 2011 Bon Voyage Buster. And read the rules on the next cruise line you choose. And if it's in UK waters, expect the same restrictions.

I would assume if this scenario occurs again the shops will have the proper forms for non uk persons.
