carefreebee Posted October 16, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 16, 2011 We sailing on the Caribbean Princess next week and was wondering what times are the various shows held? Those who have had Anytime Dinning what time worked best for you to fit in both dinner and a show?
1 HappyCruiser Posted October 16, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 16, 2011 If you can get seated before 6:30 PM there shouldn't be any problem making an 8 or 8:15 show but there might not be seats available since people get there 30 + minutes to reserve them. If you start dining at 5:30 PM, there's no problem at all. The biggest problem is showing up at the dining room door at 6 PM only to find there's a 45 minute wait for a table. Larger tables are notoriously slower dining. People like to talk about everything & slow down the whole dining process.
Psychedout Posted October 16, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 16, 2011 We do A/T dinning and make reservations at 8am for 6pm that day and you can book several days in advance. Hugh
GradUT Posted October 17, 2011 #4 Share Posted October 17, 2011 Definitely do NOT sit at a table for 8 if you are planning to go to a show after dinner. We did that once and ended up having to skip dessert in order to make it in time for the show. It took forever for the waiter to serve our large table. Jasperdo Posted October 17, 2011 #5 Share Posted October 17, 2011 Generally speaking, Princess has two seatings of their main Production shows in the Princess Theater ... 8PM and 10:15PM. (These time can vary, so check your daily Princess Patter to be sure.) Some popular shows even have a third seating the next night. So, Anytime Dining will work perfectly to catch the shows. My wife and I always do Anytime Dining, and we also enjoy going to the big Production shows. We haven't missed one yet. One tip ... the later show is almost always less crowded than the early show. To get a good seat at the early show, we get there about 45 minutes early, and bring a book. If we're going to the late show, we can get there about 15 minutes early and get the same good seat. caribill Posted October 17, 2011 #6 Share Posted October 17, 2011 We sailing on the Caribbean Princess next week and was wondering what times are the various shows held? Shows in the Princess theater usually start about 8:15 and again at 10:15. Some nights it may vary by 15 minutes. Some nights the 10:15 show will be at 7:00 instead due to other activities scheduled at 10:15 such as a deck party. Entertainment in the Explorer's Lounge usually starts within 15 minutes of the shows in the Princess Theater. If you time your dinner well, you can make both shows most evenings. The daily showtimes will be printed in the Patter, the daily schedule of events which will be in your cabin when you arrive on embarkation day and then delivered to your cabin each evening. Garfunkel Posted October 17, 2011 #7 Share Posted October 17, 2011 We've just been on Coral Princess to the Panama Canal. Had Anytime Dining, which we prefer. We'd go for dinner around 7.30/8.00 and would always make the 10.15pm show. Like a previous poster said, if you have a large table it takes a little longer to be served, so if we were offered a table for 2 on show nights, we'd take that. You just have to work it out in the daytime, see what things you want to see, and then plan your dinner time. We had no problems with it. I think we saw a comedian early one night, then had dinner, then went for a 10.15 show. It can be done!
caribill Posted October 17, 2011 #8 Share Posted October 17, 2011 Also, if you are running late with dinner, just tell your waitstaff you are in a hurry and they will serve you faster.
CruiseMor Posted October 29, 2011 #9 Share Posted October 29, 2011 We are taking our first Princess cruise, traveling with another couple, and will be doing Anytime Dining. From what I've read, it sounds like the evening shows are done in different venues. Could someone please explain how the shows on Princess work? gsmiles4u Posted October 29, 2011 #11 Share Posted October 29, 2011 Cruisemor, Main productions are in the princess theater. Comedians are usually in the clubs. You will receive the Princess Patter, a newsletter/schedule of all events and locations each evening in the mail slot outside your cabin door the night before, so you'll know where and when everything is. 1 HappyCruiser Posted October 29, 2011 #12 Share Posted October 29, 2011 is Princess still having the same shows 2 days in a row? Bill Oh yea. That was necessary since many people couldn't get to see the production shows in just two nights showing & it saves Princess lots of money in the process since that don't have to pay for guest entertainers on those other nights. That's the key right there. It wasn't like that in the past. I wonder what they were thinking putting a 800-900 seat theater on a ship that holds close to 3000 pax? It lead to some early nights going to bed for us since there was nothing to do some nights if you didnt want to go to the casino. Bill

Bill Funny thing about the guest entertainers, we hadn't seen one guy in many years & I had even forgotten we had seen his act in the Fusion lounge but the whole routine came back to me as soon as he began his show. I doubt if he changed a dozen jokes from 5 or 6 years prior. Sometimes it pays to go back to the cabin & watch a movie. ;)

I've been avoiding watching all the latest DVD movies just for that reason. You would think they would have a few first run movies once in a while.
