redeeming coupon for onboard credit

Recommended Posts

I have two coupons for $50 each for onboard credit from the Royal Caribbean VISA card. I contacted the travel agent to get the booking number that is required on the back of the coupon and was told I should mail the coupon to their office instead of to Royal Caribbean. Has anyone ever done this? I feel very unconfortable not mailing it to the address that is listed on the coupon.

Here is what their E-mail said "We request that you send the coupon to our office for accountability purposes and to ensure all charges and deductions are correct on your reservation."

I would appreciate some feedback on this.

Once you have booked a cruise through a TA, not directly with the cruise line, all contacts should be made by the TA. RCI will not tell you anything about a booking if it is booked by an outside TA. I have not used on board credit coupons, but have used several coupons for dollars off a particular cruise. These I always send to my TA(or just give him the code off the back of the coupon). I've never had any problem getting the credits applied.

...and still sent coupons to the address on the coupon, I made copies and kept those, then mailed the originals registered mail. I had $950.00 Ship board credit. I called one week before sailing to make sure it was indeed on the record and it took some looking but finally they said yes, it is there and we will credit your account. Still came home with about $500.00 on the folio, but not bad for a family of 5 on a seven day cruise! It took 2 years to build up that amount of credit...now we are back at zero...

You are entitled to your booking number whether or not you have coupons to send in. You have to have it to do your online documents anyway. Whats with your TA anyway? Those MBNA coupons do not need to be in the TA's hands. When you get the number, send them yourself.
