Birding from ship in Western North Atlantic waters and Carribean

My ship departs Feb 27th from Bayonne New Jersey and is at sea 2 days before our first port of call.

Does anyone have experience birding the waters off the North American coast on route to the Carribean?

I'm interested in which species have been seen and locations if possible.

Also does anyone know which species are likely to be attracted to cruise ships and are regularly seen?

I will have my bins and scope.

According to New Jersey Audubon Society, recently they have been seeing black-legged kittiwakes, king/common eiders, common murre, dovekies, razorbills in the area. Check NJAS (and other state Audubon Society ) web site before you go for recent sightings. Also, in the cooler waters, could keep an eye out for brown pelicans, surf/black scoters and gannet. Pelicans always in the warmer waters.Once you get down there, the frigatebirds and tropicbirds are all over the place.

The idea of tropicbirds all over the place once we are in warmer waters sounds sublime. Can't wait :D
