Is Downtown Miami Hotel Rate Steep?

We had planned on staying at the Holiday Inn Downtown Miami for one night prior to our May 21, 2012 cruise. According to their online website, the rate for a standard room for one night is $139; with tax the rate is about $167. Is that steep? :confused: Would we get a better rate for a downtown hotel if we bid on Priceline? Thanks.

I would consider that a good rate for that area. It's right across from Bayside mall (outdoor shopping & restaurants) and the port. I'm sure you can get a batter rate through p/l at some points during the year.

Based on our past experience with Miami that's a great rate - except for the taxes, but those would be similar anywhere in the area.

You can find better rates and better hotels downtown at that time of the year. Holiday Inn is in a great location, but the hotel gets very mixed reviews. :( Keep shopping and do some homework on www.betterbidding.com for Priceline and Hotwire hotels. Good luck! :)
