We are looking for a one-night pre-cruise hotel in downtown Miami. I was advised to choose the Holiday Inn Downtown but after reading the negative reviews:eek: I'd like to get the names of other hotels. I am spending way too much time researching this! Please help.

grrrrrr lost connection!

LOVED LOVED LOVED the Doubletree at Biscayne Bay! Received warm chocolate chip cookies at check-in, the room was super comfy, and you could see the ships coming into port! We payed $12 extra to be upgraded to bay view with a balcony but it was sooooo worth it! I loved the room and the hotel! Here are some pics!

The bed/sitting area...hey I think he stole my cookie!

The amenities. We thought the pringles was a good touch.

Balcony and view of port/bay.

View of bay in the morning. At night, the bridge between you and the port lights up with purples and blues and is really pretty.

Hotels in downtown Miami close to the port include Marriott Biscayne Bay, Hyatt, Hilton, Doubletree, Epic, Intercontinental. Many cruisers get good rates using Priceline, Hotwire or Lastminutetravel.

I don't know who advised you about the Holiday Inn but it is an overpriced dump. Stay somewhere else.

We chose the Courtyard Marriott Downtown for our stay. The room has a balcony and most importantly -- a discount price for Royal Caribbean cruisers!

We've had tremendous success using Priceline to get a downtown Miami hotel for as much as $115 a night and as little as $65 a night and among the hotels we have got were the Marriott Biscayne Bay, Hilton Downtown, and Hyatt Regency. Other very good hotels in the area are the Doubletree and Intercontinental. Holiday Inn Bayside gets mixed reviews and I haven't stayed there so can't really comment.:)

Thanks, Cruise Critics. In case you did not read my other post, I chose the Courtyard Marriott Downtown. Tried bidding on Priceline for 4* hotel/resort to no avail. I saw the Courtyard Marriott posted on the RCCL website for extended vacations in Miami and decided to give the hotel a call. I booked a balcony room and received a Royal Caribbean discount:D (didn't know such a perk existed)!
