slabeaume Posted February 4, 2012 #51 Share Posted February 4, 2012 Just curious, what happens in the case of an injury where a passenger has to leave the ship. Do the laws still apply?
sail7seas Posted February 4, 2012 #52 Share Posted February 4, 2012 I have been told that in the case of emergency illness and even death, application for a waiver must be made and it is not automatically granted.
jtl513 Posted February 4, 2012 #53 Share Posted February 4, 2012 ... but if I wanted to do that, I'd call the cruiseline and ask. And the answer you would get is No. :p
slabeaume Posted February 5, 2012 #54 Share Posted February 5, 2012 And the answer you would get is No. :p Then I'd call a couple more times until I got the same same answer more then once. :)
catl331 Posted February 5, 2012 #55 Share Posted February 5, 2012 I don't see how you can deduce that since it's not offered b2b that it's illegal. You have it backwards - it's because it's illegal that it's not offered.
slabeaume Posted February 5, 2012 #56 Share Posted February 5, 2012 You have it backwards - it's because it's illegal that it's not offered. I'm not disputing that because I really don't know. I was just making comment on the statement: "If it was legal for someone to board the Statendam in San Diego and switch to the Amsterdam in Vancouver in order to go on to Seattle, HAL would sell that b2b. They don't. " Inductive and deductive reasoning isn't always right.
jtl513 Posted February 5, 2012 #57 Share Posted February 5, 2012 Then I'd call a couple more times until I got the same same answer more then once. :) So you'd accept the answer and stop calling after the second "NO"? Or would it take more than that? ;)
slabeaume Posted February 5, 2012 #58 Share Posted February 5, 2012 So you'd accept the answer and stop calling after the second "NO"? Or would it take more than that? ;) It depends. In the case of my Nov. cruise, since I got a yes the first time I called, then nos the next 2 times, I called a 4th time and got a maybe. That's when they sent the letter off to the government asking for approval and it was approved. I'm glad I was persistant. It was nice having our daughter join us for part of our cruise since she lives several states away from us now.
