Fat Bottom Gurl Posted February 6, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2012 We are sailing on the Crown next week and both my sister and I received an offer from Princess that we can have a mini-suite, free air and the other person goes free if we want to change dates. I don't know if anyone else in our party received this same offer. I wonder if this is a standard practise for Princess - whether this is due to overbooking or the recent noro outbreak? Has anyone else received such an offer? We're not taking it.
bab123 Posted February 6, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 6, 2012 Wow, that is interesting. We are going next week as well, we didn't receive that email.

Airlines too overbook their flights, hoping for no shows.
Fat Bottom Gurl Posted February 6, 2012 Author #4 Share Posted February 6, 2012 It's being offered for BA-BG categories to moveover to March 12 sailing. I'd be interested if it was just me and hubby, but we are sailing with 6 other people. It would be a great way to save some money.
GloriaF Posted February 6, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 6, 2012 That's a good offer -- but you mentioned travelling with others, so can understand why you can't take it.
Rare hllwdcruiser Posted February 6, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 6, 2012 I received a move over offer when I was booked on the Ruby several years ago. We were offered to move from a 7 day on the Ruby to a 10 day on the Crown two weeks later, an upgrade from a BA to a mini and several hundred dollars in OBC. We couldn't take it then due to no flexibility in our work schedules - but we would jump on an offer now! :)
CPWhittingham Posted February 6, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 6, 2012 Our first cruise was back in 2008 on the CB. A few days before we were due to sail a Princess rep called us. She said the ship was overbooked and offered us an upgrade to a suite (we had a mini-suite booked) and $1000 onboard credit if we could switch to a sailing 3 weeks later. Unfortunately my work schedule at the time made it impossible to accept the offer :(. Oh for another offer like that again - we'd jump at it. zacc Posted February 6, 2012 #8 Share Posted February 6, 2012 Just received the same offer. Sadly we can't take them up on the offer as we are attending a wedding on the cruise. But it is a truly sweet offer!!
SlyOldLady Posted February 6, 2012 #9 Share Posted February 6, 2012 when traveling with another couple we received a similar offer...told them to offer it to our Friends at it's a deal. The rep took their names and made them the same offer, worked great
Times Prince Posted February 6, 2012 #10 Share Posted February 6, 2012 We are sailing on the Crown next week and both my sister and I received an offer from Princess that we can have a mini-suite, free air and the other person goes free if we want to change dates. I don't know if anyone else in our party received this same offer. I wonder if this is a standard practise for Princess - whether this is due to overbooking or the recent noro outbreak? Overbooking. Maybe not standard practice, but it does occur. The noro outbreak is handled by extensive cleaning which is what delayed embarkation. We had a move-over offer 3 days before a Mediterranean cruise and it was sweet - we got to go on one of our bucket list cruises that we couldn't have afforded otherwise. bab123 Posted February 7, 2012 #11 Share Posted February 7, 2012 A travel agent we booked through just told another couple that we could take advantage of this offer if we didn't want to cruise next week (noro issues). She said the cruise could be on or after March 12. Has anyone else rec'd that information?
cruiselover05 Posted February 7, 2012 #12 Share Posted February 7, 2012 We had a move over offer on a Med cruise some years back on the Emerald. It was the same cruise but 2 months later. They upgraded us to a balcony & gave us $3000 shipboard credit. It was great!
Cruisin' Grandma Posted February 7, 2012 #13 Share Posted February 7, 2012 Just heard that the Crown is returning to Ft. Lauderdale two days early due to another noro outbreak.
Rare geoherb Posted February 7, 2012 #14 Share Posted February 7, 2012 We have only received one move-over offer from Princess out of 11 cruises. And that one came late. I found out about it from some fellow passengers on board and finally saw it in my inbox after getting home.
fishin' musician Posted February 7, 2012 #15 Share Posted February 7, 2012 I wonder if they are trying to reaccommodate those on the current sailing.
rimau Posted February 8, 2012 #16 Share Posted February 8, 2012 We got the same offer and were able to do it, as we were not sailing with anyone this time. We have not sailed yet but looking forward to having a mini. They do not send these out to everyone due to only one person handling them. She was great, BTW. It is a great offer. So many respond but end up unable to take advantage due to traveling with others or a problem with employment and dates. We felt we were very lucky because we were not home to get the notice and were not among the first to respond.
Treven Posted February 8, 2012 #17 Share Posted February 8, 2012 I'd probably jump at an offer like that. :D I'm retired so my time is wide open, & I always travel alone, so I don't have to be concerned about anyone else being able to accept, or not accept, the offer. Come on Princess make me an offer I can't refuse!
