bozemanman Posted February 7, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2012 Does anyone recall or know if HAL still has prepaid calling cards for ship to shore calls and if so what the package details are? Can you purchase them before you board? I didn't see them offered on the website. Thanks for any help!:)
dot73 Posted February 7, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2012 My mom was able to get them from the front office last December on the Noordam. They don't seem to advertise the cards and I didn't even know they existed until my mom bought a couple. You use them on your stateroom phone and I was amazed how clear the call was from Aruba to Toronto. I can't recall the price but will try and locate my bill and let you know. gophercruiser Posted February 7, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 7, 2012 Cards cost $25 and we found that most locations give you 12 1/2 minutes of airtime which is $2 per minute to be able to phone from the conveniance of your cabin vs some sweaty phone booth in a port. aliaschief Posted February 8, 2012 #8 Share Posted February 8, 2012 Every day I learn something new on Cruise Critic. I had never seen any mention of this on-line. Not cheap but maybe worth looking into verus cell phone rates. Thanks to all that brought it up.;)
goodroe Posted February 8, 2012 #9 Share Posted February 8, 2012 Thank you very, very much. This is welcome information. After the hassle last year in Europe of trying to call home, this will be much easier. We did buy a phone for use overseas without realizing we would need different calling cards for each country. Hope that it's still available next year.
