Steve H Posted February 7, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 7, 2012 We have never had room service before (we just never bothered), and I was wondering if you were expected to tip when it arrived. I am more than happy to tip when they come I just wondered what the norm was?
Sloop-JohnB Posted February 7, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 7, 2012 Hi Steve H, We tipped Room Service when it was brought to us by someone "other than" our Room Steward or her assistant (a couple of bucks... we only did Breakfasts) As for our Room Steward, we knew we'd be tipping her "extra" at the end of the cruise, (beyond the set Gratuities amount) so we just took that into account. Hope this is helpful, Cheers!
bighairtexan Posted February 7, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 7, 2012 I tip no matter who brings the room service. I always have the $$ ready and in the morning I'm too groggy to decide... room steward yes, someone else no. Just a couple of dollars. Maybe 5 if you've ordered a full meal for 2. Rare cruisestitch Posted February 7, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 7, 2012 $1 for coffee delivery -- more for a whole meal -- and tell the teenagers that they can have all the room service they want but that the tips have to come out of their spending money :):):)
CathyCruises Posted February 7, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 7, 2012 We always put a few dollars out at night to use for tips in the AM--when that call comes "Your breakfast is on its way!" and you are still sleeping, it really comes in handy! I love the idea of making the kids pay out of their own $$$!
