Plan B Posted February 17, 2012 #26 Share Posted February 17, 2012 We are booked on the Jade - YAY!! Does anybody out there know what sort of coffee maker we can expect? Thanks, Sharon
Nalagh Posted February 17, 2012 #27 Share Posted February 17, 2012 Does anyone know if we could request a small coffee maker (the type in the other rooms) to be brought to the Suite (we're in a Haven Suite on the Gem)? We like to bring our Kona coffee (and DH just doesn't want to rely on liking the LaVazza). Thanks!! The Gem is fantastic, and they met all of our requests. I have no reason to think that your butler would not track one down for you.:)
WhenIsOurNextCruise Posted February 17, 2012 #28 Share Posted February 17, 2012 I just got of the Jewel & sailed in suite 10664 we had the Saeco machine made a delicious cup of coffee. I had the good fortune to visit the Garden Villa & they had the same machine if I recall correctly there were 3 of them in the Villa. These machiine cost about 1,500.00 a piece. Thank you! If it's the Saeco, I assume it is the one that grinds beans and black coffee?
jaja Posted February 17, 2012 #29 Share Posted February 17, 2012 The Saeco machine uses beans, ground on demand. The Lavazza uses pods - the pods are much smaller than Keurig pods. Or is it vice versa? (lol). I have seen both kinds on different ships, and haven't kept track. Either way, they are both good. The one with the beans seems to need more maintenance as the grounds need to be emptied often. Robin Saeco was what we had on Jewel...there was lots of problems with it not being maintained
Frick_&_Frack Posted February 17, 2012 #30 Share Posted February 17, 2012 The Gem is fantastic, and they met all of our requests. I have no reason to think that your butler would not track one down for you.:) Thanks Nalagh! While I hate the thought of even more stuff to carry (including Coke since we don't drink Pepsi), it's a worse thought having an unhappy hubby for a week! ;)
dutchess43 Posted February 17, 2012 #31 Share Posted February 17, 2012 Thank you! If it's the Saeco, I assume it is the one that grinds beans and black coffee? Yes it grinds the beans.
valleyvillage Posted February 17, 2012 #32 Share Posted February 17, 2012 The middle part between the cup and the steamer/frother is a little drawer. You pull it out and pop in one of these: They usually have espresso, decaf, and a couple different kinds of tea. Online they sell other varieties including cocoa. What a treat! rvsullivan Posted February 17, 2012 #33 Share Posted February 17, 2012 Not so...our coffee maker in 10166 on the Jewel (just two weeks ago) was not Lavazza or Keurig...it was some complicated contraption of another brand. Saeco machine, Incanto model. Another type of machine somewhat like Lavazza.
Gregor4500 Posted February 18, 2012 #34 Share Posted February 18, 2012 We liked the Saeco so much we bought one when we got home.
sbt518 Posted February 18, 2012 #35 Share Posted February 18, 2012 It looks like you can steam milk with those machines to make yourself a latte or cappuccino. So can we just tell our Butler that we'd like a small pitcher of skim milk in the fridge instead of flavored creamers or real cream?
valleyvillage Posted February 18, 2012 #36 Share Posted February 18, 2012 Our butler kept our fridge stocked with skim milk for frothing, it was great! Just ask, they love to please.
angeljt Posted February 18, 2012 #37 Share Posted February 18, 2012 The Lavazza in 10004. Excellent coffee! I brought my own creamer, but they did have half & half.
medicalma'am Posted February 18, 2012 #38 Share Posted February 18, 2012 I have a Saeco at home and love it. It is an Italian machine.
jerseygirl111 Posted February 18, 2012 #39 Share Posted February 18, 2012 Valley, Thanks for the pics & info. I'm imagining myself sitting on the balcony with a cup of latte! Another reason for me to be anxious for my June cruise on the Star -- my first time in a suite. :D:D

bluesea777 Posted June 6, 2012 #41 Share Posted June 6, 2012 Here are the pics of the Lavazza in Star Family Suite 12016. We asked for some milk to be kept in fridge. In the mornings we made cappuccino in the big cups, and espresso in the evenings.
jame_g Posted June 6, 2012 #42 Share Posted June 6, 2012 Sorry, unlike most of the others, I don't really care for the Lavazza machines that use the pods. I much preferred the machines that ground the beans instead. But at least there is a coffee maker in the suite. better than nothing, but I wouldn't brag about Lavazza. I do like the french press coffee in Cagney's.
emcelh Posted June 6, 2012 #43 Share Posted June 6, 2012 And it actually is the one you had in 10166. If that's in 10166, we used it too.
mmastroserio Posted June 6, 2012 #44 Share Posted June 6, 2012 I love the lavazza machine. I would buy one if I could find one to buy. We are sailing in a suite just for that coffee on a balcony every morning.

lamchops Posted June 6, 2012 #47 Share Posted June 6, 2012 What kind of machine is on the Pearl? The Pearl suites on deck 11 starboard had Keurigs on the Oct 2011 Panama Canal cruise.
NYteacher Posted June 6, 2012 #48 Share Posted June 6, 2012 We are on the Star in a family suite. I am sorry to hear about the pods, really love the freshly ground coffee. I think I will ask the butter to deliver a pot of French press every morning.
Brandis Posted June 6, 2012 #49 Share Posted June 6, 2012 We are going to be on Jewel in December, did this machine make tea? We were just in a front penthouse suite on star, and that coffee machine used pods and made tea. Thank you. I think no one answered your question yet. I'm a tea drinker as well and we also stayed in a suite on Jewel. The steam pipe also dispenses hot water, I think they had some tea bags next to the machine. You can bring more down from the machines up at the buffet or ask you butler. The butler also kept my fridge stocked with milk, as I drink my tea with milk only.
