Aplmac Posted April 19, 2012 #201 Share Posted April 19, 2012 The Concordia disaster will change the scope of safety (SOLAS) of modern day cruising. It already has. I feel safer now than ever. ===> Except on those very tall Princess ships, prone to listing by design! I'll stick to US carriers (though the parent is a US company, the subordinate company is obviously Not). Couldn't agree with you more. .
Taxguy77 Posted April 21, 2012 #202 Share Posted April 21, 2012 I think your free to state your own opinion, which is perfectly fine. Although in this country I'm not sure how long that will last either. Home AND business in San Dimas? Wow. I went to Cal Poly in 1950, and there wasn't even a gas station. After graduation, I lived in San Dimas for a year. I hope it is still the peaceful area it was then. :p
pinetrees Posted April 22, 2012 #203 Share Posted April 22, 2012 Giving up on cruising eh? Seems rather a rash decision based largely on the unfortunate Concordia fiasco. It seems to be a human frailty for some to become sloppy, careless and too risky after repetitive behaviour. The Captain of the Concordia apparently fits this category very well. Thank heavens the large majority of ship Captains are not like this. My wife and I are considering our 26th cruise and are doing so with confidence that our next cruise will be as enjoyable as our last.:)
