Butterbean1000 Posted February 25, 2012 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2012 We have beaten this dead horse forever. But what I want to know is if you will 'fess up to being a chair hog. Everyone here vilifies the beast but no one has ever confessed. Just wondering...... Enjoy your cruise:cool:
Koshlong Posted February 25, 2012 #2 Share Posted February 25, 2012 Sorry, I honestly haven't. Although, the fact that I get sick if I lie in the sun too long might have something to do with it.:)
Rare sparks1093 Posted February 25, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 25, 2012 I'd personally rather sit in the shade most of the time. The only chair I hog is my recliner at home:).
firefly333 Posted February 25, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 25, 2012 Not me either, Im Irish and hardly sit in the sun, usually look for a shady chair.
CharmedMom Posted February 25, 2012 #5 Share Posted February 25, 2012 I also prefer sitting in the shade - if I'm relaxing outside, I am reading, and the sun tends to reflect off those white pages and hurts my eyes (even with sunglasses on). And yes, I am a book reader (not a nook or a kindle), I like to have a physical book in my hands and actually turn pages.
misstopgun Posted February 25, 2012 #6 Share Posted February 25, 2012 I don't think I have ever spent more than an hour at any given time on a lounge chair on deck, and then, I didn't save it beforehand.
FightOnRon Posted February 25, 2012 #7 Share Posted February 25, 2012 I prefer the shade too,,I have never sat in the sun by a pool on a ship.

lillian marie Posted February 25, 2012 #11 Share Posted February 25, 2012 I am blond and fair skinned and can't sit in the sun very long so chair hogging is not my thing. I just wish CCL would create some rules here and there would less of a problem.
FLCruiser001 Posted February 25, 2012 #12 Share Posted February 25, 2012 To answer your question: No. I see alot of people are confused, however. Just because someone sits in the shade, they can't be a chair hog?
jm100 Posted February 25, 2012 #13 Share Posted February 25, 2012 If the cruise line allows this to happen and refuses to do anything what gives people the right to take the law in their own hands.....just saying

Butterbean1000 Posted February 25, 2012 Author #15 Share Posted February 25, 2012 Don't you know? It's always the other guy! Yeah, that is what I'm thinking. To tell the truth, saving a chair really has never occurred to me. We either lucked up on getting a chair or we didn't and moved on. Enjoy your druise

hawaii6o Posted February 25, 2012 #19 Share Posted February 25, 2012 I am one of the people walking around all over looking for a chair. When I do find one it is always on the top deck which I dont mind. But they are really packed in like sardines all on top of each other. I dont stay very long. Just long enough to have a drink, catch some rays and then I am on my way with my towel.

tikimon Posted February 25, 2012 #21 Share Posted February 25, 2012 Yes I confess I am to some out there a chairhog. I am up every morning while on a cruise no later than 5:30 am, I will go up on top deck and walk around alot while hardly no one is out there ( it's the most peaceful time of the cruise for me), I feel like it is just me,God and the ocean. After walking I will sit on Lido and drink a few cups of coffee, wait for the breakfast buffet to open and eat some breakfast then go back to my (2) lounge chairs that I threw my towels on before my walk and wait for my wife to get up and come out and join me. So yes I just may be considered as a chairhog! :p (You don't like it? Don't look at it) LOL:D
Rare finoky Posted February 25, 2012 #22 Share Posted February 25, 2012 Absolutely not a chair hog. I don't need to hind behind a keyboard to say it.
chicasarita Posted February 25, 2012 #23 Share Posted February 25, 2012 I haven't been before, but after reading all the posts on it I am thinking about printing tons of little reserved signs and putting them on all the empty chairs around the pool at 6am one morning, just to see if someone from CC takes my picture and I become famous on these boards.:p
Clipper123 Posted February 25, 2012 #24 Share Posted February 25, 2012 I've not seen the need to be a chair hog on the cruise ships I've been on. We never sit by the pool and there always seem to be chairs up a deck - sometimes we have to drag one or two around, but we've always managed to find 4 empty. Now, if I found that every time we went to get chairs, we could never find any, I might just throw our stuff on some on our way to breakfast and then come back and sit on them. I wouldn't save chairs and then go off and do something else for an hour or two though.
maldenmusic Posted February 25, 2012 #25 Share Posted February 25, 2012 Honestly, the only time we "hog" chairs is when we go to grab a bite to eat on the Lido deck. And since we always lounge aft, the Lido buffet is right beneath us so we are never gone more than 20 minutes.
