robinbird62 Posted March 4, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 4, 2012 Does anyone know of a decent hotel in southampton to stay the night before our cruise, we would like to leave our car there as well for the duration of the 14 night cruise???? Thanks
EJNutz Posted March 4, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 4, 2012 I would try Deveres Grand Harbour (probably the dearest in the area) or Holiday Inn, Herbert Walker Road. That is if you want to be in the centre of Southampton and close to the Port.
RADDERS Posted March 4, 2012 #3 Share Posted March 4, 2012 Hi if you google cruise and stay in Southampton in comes up with a website that has a list on it. I believe the IBIS does as well. I did not find the rates were correct but I could then look at map and contact hotel direct.
Rare John Bull Posted March 4, 2012 #4 Share Posted March 4, 2012 Do you know which cruise terminal? Or ship/sailing date? Novotel, Holiday Inn Herbert Walker Avenue, and Mercure Dolphin Hotel offer free cruise parking, Holiday Inn is right by City cruise terminal (but no cruise parking during the boat show 14-23 Sept), Novotel is pretty walkable to both City & Mayflower terminals if you drop your luggage at the ship first, Mercure Dolphin includes a free taxi to any cruise terminal. All are convenient to city centre shops, restaurants, sights, etc. The Hilton is on the edge of the city at the end of the M3, not convenient to city facilities - not even a decent pub in walking distance - but offers free cruise transfers. Details, and more Southampton visitor info on the city’s website http://www.visit-southampton.co.uk/s...ew-information But beware - the list includes country hotels up to about 10 miles from Southampton, so sift carefully. We each have our favourites, I’d recommend the Dolphin. JB :)

Rare John Bull Posted March 5, 2012 #6 Share Posted March 5, 2012 Just noticed the trailer on your post. Both Indy & Eclipse normally sail out of City cruise terminal. Location-wise, Holiday Inn (Herbert Walker Avenue, & no other Hol Inn) cannot be bettered. De Vere Grand Harbour & Premier Inn West Quay are also easily walkable even with luggage, but Premier doesn't have its own parking, not sure about Grand Harbour. For any hotel cruise parking you need to pre-book. And soonest, they do book-out JB :)
