We often don't know until one CD leaves and someone posts a review that mentions who the new CD is.

Many of the seasonal changes are made because of language issues. I've been in touch with 2 CDs who are changing ships because English is their only language. In this case, Abel got his assignment because he is fluent in so many languages. I wouldn't worry about losing him in Europe!

 

This is true. I was just off the Adventure and Abel is so talented in his languages. He did most everything in English and Spanish and then did many other introduction/small things in other languages such as French, Italian, Dutch, etc.

In October, we did a Med cruise on Mariner of the Seas. I do not know who the cruise director was, but he kept us entertained with his singing and full-out enthusiasm. The shows were the best we have ever seen on a cruise ship, including a production show that was amazing (sadly I have forgotten the name...if anyone out there knows please remind me ?? picture gallery...??) (Kieron...)

His entusiasm was contagious and all of the staff were wonderful. For the New Year, we booked the Navigator for a group of 21...While the same category of ship, the entertainment could not compare with that of Mariner.

I know realize the importance of the CD onboard the ship even thou I had never really paid much attention.

If anyone knows of the name of the CD onboard the Mariner for the October 3rd 2011 sailing, I would love to commend him. As for the CD on Navigator for Dec 30-January 8th 2012....

He is probably just on his normal break. Their contracts run something like 4-6 months on and 2 months off.

During last year's westbound transatlantic cruise on Jewel of the Seas, Clo O'Connor gave us the distinct impression that she would be back on board for this year's westbound crossing. I am hoping this is true. Carly B took over for her after the ship arrived in Boston, and we found her to be excellent as well, so we look forward to sailing with her again also.:)

Hi, DonnaK, thanks for maintaining that list for the Royal Caribbean community. It is so helpful!

 

Splendour's cruise director in Brazil was João Pereira. He's been with the company since 2007 in both Europe and Brazil. João is very outgoing and polished, and we were impressed by how effortlessly he moved back and forth between Portuguese and English. We thought he did a bang-up job with the entertainment and activities program. Even though it was conceived with the Brazilian audience in mind, João and his staffers warmly welcomed the non-Brazilians and helped integrate us in the activities.

 

I failed to find out which staffers would remain with the ship when it transits to Europe for the summer season, so you may have to keep a watch on future reports. Sorry!
