Percentage of first time cruiser in an average cruise

We have been on HAL cruises when there were 80-85% repeaters and others with way lower. We could tell because at the former style Mariner Party, the Captain always spoke to everyone seated in the show lounge and very often told the percentage or number of Mariners on that cruise.

We've been told often that HAL has the highest percentage of repeat cruisers in the industry. Sounds possible to me. :)

The longer the cruise, the fewer the "first timers." However, we were on the Amsterdam a fews ago for a 67 day cruise and there was a couple on a tour with us and they were on their very first cruise. That takes guts!

Like you we were on a thirty day cruise and there were several first time cruisers and a very young honeymoon couple. I was amazed that anyone would book a thirty day cruise that had never been at sea before. Your right Padraic, that takes guts but that young honeymoon couple took the cake, to be with all us old farts.....that was crazy..

Of the HAL cruises we've taken where it was mentioned by the Captain or other officers, prepeat passengers on board was always over 80%.

We were also told HAL had the highest repeat rate by a Hotel Manager at a Meet & Greet last year.

RCI tell their passengers that they have the highest repeat rate :D

ALL the cruise lines tell their passengers that they have the highest cruise passenger repeat rate. This way you think you are sailing on the most popular cruise line. It's a ploy to get you to come and sail with them again.

But -- 7 day cruises on any line do attrack more than first time cruisers than the longer cruises.

I have no idea of the percentage of repeat passengers as the ships we are on never mention that when we are at the brunch or at that pre-brunch cocktail party if there is one.

Wow you are right about that. I hoped they had a good time!

How many pax have sailed before, but thie is their first time on HAL (Or you can fill in any other line if it makes your point.)

You are right. A friend of ours was on the Allure of the Seas a few months ago and it was announced that they had over 1,400 first time RCCL passengers on their cruise. It was also our friend's first with Royal out of 42 cruises.
