Ontario Cruiser Posted March 17, 2012 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2012 I asked this question on the cabin's board with no response so I thought someone might read this here. Has anyone stayed in one of these cabins? Do you hear noise from the fitness centre? Thanks Ontario Cruiser
Princess Patches Posted March 17, 2012 #2 Share Posted March 17, 2012 (edited) That cabin is directly below the treadmills. I have read many noise complaints about being below the treadmills. The fitness center generally opens at 7 but on several of my sailings I have noticed that they were not allowing treadmill use until 8. I was told that this was due to noise complaints from the cabins below. Edited March 17, 2012 by Princess Patches
WVBill Posted March 17, 2012 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2012 I will give you a report on Ruby L104 when we get back from our 7-day cruise leaving on Sunday March 25. I have read answers both ways from people who have stayed in these cabins...

Ontario Cruiser Posted March 20, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted March 20, 2012 WVBill If you get a chance on your March 25th cruise can you check out how much smaller cabin L102 is on the Ruby? It looks like the smallest cabin of the 4. Thanks Ontario Cruiser
marz_cat Posted March 20, 2012 #6 Share Posted March 20, 2012 We were on the Crown last Nov. in L104, and it was just wonderful. Unusual configuration, really nice amount of space. I was disappointed that during the 7 days the observation deck was rarely, if ever, open, even when in port. That was a significant draw for us to be in that cabin, but I didn't mention it to guest services, my bad. I peeked into L102 and L103, when they were being serviced, could see there was far less space than ours, but it was very similar to inside cabin configurations. As for the noise, I didn't notice any treadmill noise, but I guess we were not directly under. Movement is definitely more noticeable up there. But I like that kind of thing. The best was just being able to pop out for breakfast, grab stuff from the buffet and come back to the cabin with your plate. Fabulous. After being in an inside cabin on Lido and then L104, I just can't consider any other deck on this class of ship. For November, we're now sucking up the extra expense and going for a balcony, of course Lido. I'm pretty excited about one tip I picked up from someone's review...going to bring a lightweight plastic tray in the luggage so either one of us will go gather goodies from the buffet for breakfast and be able to bring back stuff to the cabin without juggling a couple of plates and glasses with only two paws. It really is a wonderful location, so I hope you have a beyond fabulous time.
marz_cat Posted March 20, 2012 #7 Share Posted March 20, 2012 Oh, sorry, forgot to mention the view is really very nice. You get to see the port/landscape pretty well except the bottom third or quarter of the window area....
Ontario Cruiser Posted March 20, 2012 Author #8 Share Posted March 20, 2012 Thanks Marz Cat Did you notice if the bed is against the wall or under the window? Ontario Cruiser
marz_cat Posted March 20, 2012 #9 Share Posted March 20, 2012 Ontario - These links might be helpful for you, since these are actual photos of the Caribbean Princess, Lido deck layout identical to the Crown, Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald. I can vouch for the fact that the photos of L104 represent exactly what L104 is on the Crown. Bed in 102 is against the window, same setup as an interior cabin just sub the huge picture window for the wall/mirror. As you'll see on the deck plan, L101 is very similar to L102, just a couple of feet "longer," not much really. I found the interior cabins with similar layout completely manageable, lots of closet space too. L104 http://www.********************/view_room.php?r_id=77230 L101 http://www.********************/view_room.php?r_id=77227 I have to say that due to the position of these cabins, there's little to no foot traffic in the hall. The large windows look out onto the observation deck which is the roof of the bridge. If people are out on the deck, you can see them but they cannot see you - which is amusing to get used to at first. I really liked the tucked away feel of this location. Ask away if you have any questions about these cabins, or Lido deck in general... Cheers, Marlene

highflyingrealtor Posted March 27, 2012 #12 Share Posted March 27, 2012 I asked this question on the cabin's board with no response so I thought someone might read this here. Has anyone stayed in one of these cabins? Do you hear noise from the fitness centre? Thanks Ontario Cruiser Just off the Ruby in L103. Loved it! Flybridge was open alot and it became our biggest balcony ever. Very convenient to Spa pool & steamroom which we use alot. We did hear the treadmills above but that was only during the day. For bang for the buck, we will book this or L104 again (and we've always been balcony folks!). :D
WVBill Posted April 3, 2012 #13 Share Posted April 3, 2012 OK just got back from cruise in L104 and LOVED it!! Because of the configuration of it's entry door and where the bathroom is placed, L104 seems to have more space than the others up front (I peeked in L103 once when the steward had it open). Heard the treadmill once or twice when we happened to be in the room during the day but it was very faint and no louder than many of the other normal "ship noises". We had some slightly heavy seas one evening/night - enough that some passengers were sea sick - but it really didn't bother us at all. As far as being able to see into the room from the outside - it's impossible during the day. I went outside and pressed my face up to our window and still could not see in. I'm not sure about when it's dark outside but that area isn't open then anyway. I'll post pictures when I get a chance to download them from my camera. Bottom line - L104 is going to be our cabin of choice.

royalcruz Posted April 5, 2012 #15 Share Posted April 5, 2012 Check out E632 and the ones next to it. Pay for partially obstructed but the only obstruction is a metal deck one floor below, so you have a clear view. The same views are available for the 3 cabins across the ship on the starboard side. It's also really close to the elevators /stairs) and one deck down to entertainment.
AliceS Posted April 6, 2012 #16 Share Posted April 6, 2012 I was in Lido 102 on the Ruby Inaugural and thought it was great. We actually went out on the deck and had a party one sail away. I heard the treadmill once in a while and heard the service door bang closed. The staff used that. I thought it was the door to the outside. The cabin is large and there's tons of storage, a large window. Very nice. Alice I like the good obstructed cabins on Emerald, too. If someone wants to spring for a balcony for me though, I'll be happy to take it.

1particularharbor Posted July 20, 2012 #18 Share Posted July 20, 2012 I am interested in knowing the layout of cabin L104 on Caribbean Princess...I saw pictures was not sure of storage, how many chairs/tables etc ..any info would be appreciated. Also, are you able to go out on the deck at all times of day. Thanks for your help on these questions.

Also, are you able to go out on the deck at all times of day. Thanks for your help on these questions. Pictures pretty much show you what's there. 1 barrel chair, 1 desk chair, desk, small table and room for stuff on top of the fridge. We were in L103 last year (Ruby) and picked L104 for the next one for a slightly different layout. Closets all have doors and seem to give you more room than regular cabins. The door you're referring to I believe is a narrow closet area with shelves and a safe. Fly-bridge is "usually" open going into and leaving ports, while in port and sometimes had been open to my surprise on sea days. It's all at the discretion of the Captain, is weather dependent also and I've never seen it open at night (access doors are locked). Can't say enough good about these cabins for bang for the buck and location. :D

lonestarlizard Posted September 26, 2015 #21 Share Posted September 26, 2015 Here are my pictures of L104 Bill, thanks for a great report on L104. I have the cabin coming up next May for an Alaska trip. The pictures say it all and your comments on the noise are quelling the apprehension I had about water buffaloes on the treadmills above the cabins. That sure looks like an A-3 on the flight deck. Never got to visit a carrier, too busy chasing Russian submarines around the western Pacific. :) Have a fine (retired) Navy day! I have had that cabin twice and would select it again were it available on an upcoming cruise. I never heard the dreaded noise from above, LOL, or if I did, it wasn't enough for me to think twice about because I don't recall it.
