Maxi dresses?

I was looking at kohls.com yesterday - I want a solid color maxi dress for work and haven't found that yet, but they do have some other cute options.

I always need to wear a bra, so I look for dresses with wide straps. I like this one: http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/zbrandskiosk/women/chapswomens/dresses/PRD~960134/Chaps+Scroll+Empire+Maxi+Dress.jsp

I like this except the crochet decoration at the neckline. Too bad:( http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/zbrandskiosk/women/sonoma_lifeandstyle/dresses/PRD~963016/SONOMA+life+++style+Crochet+Maxi+Dress.jsp

I might get this Dana Buchanan - it comes in plus too, I'm right on the border. Could wear this to work and with a bra :p http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/landingpages/danabuchman/women/dresses/PRD~1006031/Dana+Buchman+Leaf+Maxi+Dress.jsp

I couldn't wear these horizontal stripes but I think the dress is adorable: http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/crosssells/storemore/dresses/womens/PRD~1019383/Suite+7+Striped+Maxi+Dress.jsp

There are tons more online! I know someone else has posted Old Navy dresses - I don't like ON quality or fit on me - the Kohls brands I like work a lot better on me and I think the quality is a little better - and there's almost always some sort of sale going on:D

I like the Dana Buchman. Where would you wear it? Daytime? Casual dinner?

I LOVE maxi dresses.

If you have a DOTS close to you they have some cute ones very low priced, not the best quality, but even if you get one summer wears out of them.

Now off to shop Khols online, not many in the stores at Khols

I will only be looking:)

I'm looking for a casual gold and a orange maxi dress.

Hi! Went to kohls today and did not find much in store! I am looking for another Maxi dress for non formal night! I have purchased a really cute black one from Gap! Old Navy had some, but not really my taste (loud colors)!

I would wear that Dana Buchman to work with a structured cardigan and flat sandals, or on a cruise for casual night dinner. Or formal night if I were on a less formal cruise line (eg Elegant Night on Carnival maybe?). I don't think I'd wear it for formal night on HAL.

Great idea. I've been losing weight since last summer and I haven't bought clothes for the cruise because I don't know what size I will be. Thanks

GREAT!!!

Just what I hoped you'd say.

I'd like to get a few for elegantly casual nights or whatever they call it these days. :)

Is a flat or low heeled sandal okay with most of them?

Thanks.

That's certainly what I'd wear. Maybe a dressier t-strap? Something like this, a little embellished: http://www.shoebuy.com/david-tate-pure/435274/927396

Those shoes would also be cute with knee length sundresses or capris - I like to limit the number of shoes I pack, so multipurpose is a keyword for me.

Maxi dresses are casual, despite their length....not "formal" at all! Fine for the "smart casual" nights, tho!

Totally depends on the dress and the ship. You can't make absolute statements like that. (well, you do, but it doesn't make sense to the rest of us:rolleyes:)

Hi! Looking for some for upcoming cruise!:D I did recently purchase one from Gap that I do love! But, would like to buy 1-2 more! Anyone find a really cute one lately?

I second the target suggestion (and more specificly target.com because they have some online exclusives and returning to the store is free.)

You don't say too much about your taste level, but I purchased a few of these last week and thought they were made pretty well (and would pack great.)

Ruffle Front Maxi

Ruffle Top

There are a few more but those just happen to be two I have first hand knowledge of.

I have maxi's sun dresses that are formal, and have some that I can dress up or dress down.

idk if it's just me, but I've noticed that cb at sea always posts the most exaggerated, discouraging, negative comments in this section..

The word Maxi Dress just refers to the length...they come in all different materials, styles, etc.

Yes, she does, and those of us who've posted here more than a month learn to ignore her posts, for the most part. It's not like she ever goes back and reads the thread again:rolleyes:

I have a maxi dress from Kohls I wore on formal night on our Black Sea cruise on Princess in September. It wasn't the most formal option I could have chosen, but it was suitable enough and - more importantly to me - easy to pack without wrinkles because of the fabric.

Those are both cute! I especially like the blue!
