Pete Jackson Posted May 3, 2012 #51 Share Posted May 3, 2012 Very ingenious! One disadvantage I see is that much of the port side of the ship that has not so far been submerged in water, will get submerged as the ship tilts upright on the platform. Presumably anything worth salvaging in this area will get salvaged before the ship is tilted. And maybe remove everything removable if possible from the now dry areas because it will be easier to dispose of dry junk rather than wet junk. And weight will be saved by such stripping. Thanks for posting!
NetwrkEng Posted May 3, 2012 #52 Share Posted May 3, 2012 Just a guess on my part since I have NO knowledge in areas like this but the video mentions "Light Ship Weight" so I would imagine that once they have it stabilized with the "hold downs" they would remove most anything they can to lighten the ship.
