gambler Posted May 6, 2012 #1 Share Posted May 6, 2012 Booked the Magic for July, Western route. Booked a balcony mid ship on the 8th floor. Any thoughts? Does anyone know what nights are the formal nights? I assume Monday but do not know if the other one is Thursday or Friday? Does anyone have copies of the dinner menus? Trying to figure out what night to book the steak house. Anything I should know? Thank-you
IslandToIsland Posted May 6, 2012 #2 Share Posted May 6, 2012 We had a balcony on the Magic on the 8th floor and it was smack in the middle of the 2 hot tubs below on the Promenade. It got a little noisy at times from people in both hot tubs and the people outside of the Redfrog Pub. If I had a choice I wouldn't choose this exact location again. As far as elegant nights are concerned, I believe ours were on Monday and Friday.
Sargent_Schultz Posted May 6, 2012 #3 Share Posted May 6, 2012 I think the elegant nights depend on whether you go to Cozumel first or last. Ours were Monday and Thursday. IslandToIsland Posted May 6, 2012 #6 Share Posted May 6, 2012 We had 8362. Looking at the deck plans it looks like you are closer to the one after the Lanai, a little further from the pub. You may be right above that one. Check out the deck plans on the Carnival site and you can judge it a little better. We are on the Dream in Feb and this time I chose a room on same deck midship, but a little more forward closer to the space jutting out with no hot tub. We had Cozumel as a last stop too, so maybe ours was on Thurs. also. I can't remember. I don't know why Friday sticks out to me.
ChristieDawn Posted May 6, 2012 #9 Share Posted May 6, 2012 We were on the Magic in Dec and I thnk our elegant nights were Monday and Thursday. That was our first 7 day cruise and I thought there was lobster on both elegant nights but I soon found out on Thursday that they only offer lobster on the 1st elegnt night....:( I'll remember on our next cruise next year to double up on the lobster on the 1st elegant night!!! Did you hear the noise with your balcony door shut also? If the cabin is quiet with the door shut then I'm ok with that, otherwise maybe we should move forward more. thanks! If we couldn't hear anything with it shut it wouldn't be an issue for us either as we never leave our door open. I figured choosing a few decks up would be ok, but we still heard it. I'm a light sleeper so it will probably bother me. Going to call my TA tomorrow and see if I can change cabins. Not sure how early saver works, hope there is no penalty. Will look at moving forward on deck 8 or 9.

If its a sideways move, there is no extra cost and you dont have to pay the difference, so this is best if possible. Upgrade you would not pay a Carnival fee (TA may have one), but you have to pay the difference if the cost has gone up. No downgrades allowed with ES. 05mak05 Posted May 7, 2012 #16 Share Posted May 7, 2012 We're considering the Magic out of Galveston for a family Christmas cruise. Because this cruise is our Christmas gift to family members, we'll probably book the cheapest balconies which seem to be cove balconies. I'd like feedback and your opinions on whether or not to bite the bullet and pay for balconies on higher decks. We'll have two children 7 & 8 in our group and am also wondering about the kids' club. Thanks ...
steph7021 Posted May 7, 2012 #17 Share Posted May 7, 2012 We were on Magic in March...we had 9472 (loved!) Anyway; after cabin crawl and the fact we had a large group with various cabins we did decide that a balcony on the Magic either needs to be forward or aft....or cove. On the cabin crawl I went into a suite midship and even then you were looking down on the decks below!
Lovharvey Posted May 7, 2012 #18 Share Posted May 7, 2012 I was on the Magic this past March, cabin 8300, heard nothing. Would book this cabin again in a minute.

Thanks ... Coves are very popular, but not a lot of them are quads, so dont wait if you want one. Mid deck 8 overlooks the hot tubs and no privacy, so you probably dont want a 8B here .. either a cove or a balcony on the ends or higher decks. karenh1127 Posted May 7, 2012 #20 Share Posted May 7, 2012 On the Magic in March, had quad cove #2330 and loved it!! Booked this exact cabin for our New Years cruise in Dec!! No noise and loved being so close to the water. Most of our ports were on this side and my son loved sitting on the balcony watching people come and go from the ship! Forget the steakhouse (havent tried it) and book the Cucina Italian place for dinner..........AMAZING!!!! Have never had Italian food any better. We also loved the food in the Red Frog Pub!! gambler Posted May 7, 2012 Author #21 Share Posted May 7, 2012 Wow, glad I asked, always thought mid ship was the best. Going to check out my options, thanks.
firefly333 Posted May 7, 2012 #22 Share Posted May 7, 2012 Sorry I said deck 8, meant deck 6, category 8s, balconys over the promenade. Just reread what I wrote. sorry.

Thanks ... I can't speak for Camp Carnival, but I just returned from a Magic cruise and LOVED the cove balcony! I've had an aft balcony, an extended balcony, and regular balconies, and the cove was my favorite so far! ;)
labsnabys Posted March 6, 2014 #24 Share Posted March 6, 2014 I was on the Magic this past March, cabin 8300, heard nothing. Would book this cabin again in a minute. I apologize for dredging up a 2-year-old thread, but I have a 24-hr. hold on Magic balcony 8300 plus inside cabin 8302 across the hall for our kids. It looks like 8300 is not directly above the hot tubs, but slightly off one end. How much of a noise/privacy issue can we expect if we are people who enjoy sitting on the balcony? I know this is a bit subjective, but I appreciate all advice. Thanks! - Lisa
MichelleChell Posted March 6, 2014 #25 Share Posted March 6, 2014 My friends book the cabin next door 8304 and have it booked again for our Dec cruise. They love it! I am booked a few doors down and also love it. Not much hot tub noise, great location to mid stairs.
