Newbcruiser1 Posted May 10, 2012 Author #51 Share Posted May 10, 2012 There is a bar, a pool, and some souvenir stores at the top. My big purchase was an ice cold diet coke. I then spent about 20 minutes trying to get the majority of the sand off of my watershoes and feet, but it was a bit of a losing battle. We left the Baths the same way we got there, but had a different ferry back - this one seemed a lot smoother than the first due to it's catamaran-style hull. We were actually able to enjoy the scenery this time.
Newbcruiser1 Posted May 10, 2012 Author #52 Share Posted May 10, 2012 We got back to the ship around 12:30. After going to my room and changing, and again trying to wash the sand off my feet and watershoes, which turned out to be another lost cause, all while filling the shower with sand, I went to Bistro on Five for some crepes for lunch, along with my other solo CC buddy. I had the Cowboy crepe (steak), we shared a chicken Panini, and for dessert I had a nutella and banana crepe. Everything was good although the steak crepe was a little bit dry. Unfortunately, the service was quite slow and seemed unattentive here. Next was the Cruise Critic Connections party. The cruise director Sue was there, as well as some managers from around the ship. They gave out champagne and name tags and that was basically it. People mingled for a bit, and it was over pretty quickly. I went down to the pool after and spent about 20 minutes walking in circles trying to find a chair in the shade. I finally found one, but it was very close to a man smoking a seemingly never-ending cigar. Eventually the pool area seemed to empty out around 4:30pm so I moved to another area that wasn’t smoky. I went for a swim and sat in and on the edge of the pool for a while while listening to Fusion. I then went inside to wash up in my now sandy shower and change for dinner. Newbcruiser1 Posted May 10, 2012 Author #54 Share Posted May 10, 2012 I had dinner at Qsine tonight along with 6 other Cruise Critic members and we all had a great time. We were seated at the large "party table", as the restaurant staff called it, under this neat light fixture: We were each given an iPad on which to view the menu and add the dished we wanted to our favorites. The server would then look at each of our orders and determine how many of each dish to bring for the table, and in which order. While I did not get to try everything on my list (I think I was the only one that ordered some of the items), we tried a total of 13 out of 20 dishes. Not bad! They started off with some delicious mini salted buns: Sushi Lollipops: Disco Shrimp: (the bottom of the bowl had a blue flashing light inside)
Newbcruiser1 Posted May 10, 2012 Author #55 Share Posted May 10, 2012 Spring Rolls: (my tablemates got to them before my camera did! LOL!) Slider Party: (delicious!!!) Popcorn style fish: Escargots: Persian Kebob: Chinese Martini "Chitinis"
Newbcruiser1 Posted May 10, 2012 Author #56 Share Posted May 10, 2012 Lava Crab: Salmon: Tres Ceviche: Painters Mignon: The dessert menu involved solving a Rubix Cube: For dessert I started with a “silver bullet” of gelato (mango, coconut, and strawberry) which was eaten with what looked like a dental mirror:
Newbcruiser1 Posted May 10, 2012 Author #57 Share Posted May 10, 2012 I then enjoyed the Cupcake Kit: Some other desserts from the table included the chocolate tombstone (fortunately with no names written on it! LOL!): The "surprise" (which turned out to be apple bread pudding with vanilla gelato): Then they came around with a garden of chocolate and sprinkle covered strawberries and eggs filled with crème brulee! When all was said and done, we had tried 13 main dishes and 5 desserts over a span of 3.5 hours. Needless to say we all waddled out of there. It was an incredibly fun experience though, and I'd definitely recommend it. After dinner the group attempted to get into the Newlywed game but Revelations was completely full with no seats to be found, so I roamed around the stores for a while before going back to my room. The clocks were turned 1 hour ahead tonight due to the Bermuda time difference, so I headed off to bed soon after.
librarylady19 Posted May 10, 2012 #58 Share Posted May 10, 2012 Wow, great food porn! I had not seen (or eaten) several of the items you photographed. How was the salmon? Can't wait to try Qsine again in September.
Newbcruiser1 Posted May 10, 2012 Author #59 Share Posted May 10, 2012 I actually wasn't a huge fan of the salmon but it might have just been because I was too full! ;) I would have really liked to try the Mediterranean dish (M's favorites), the tacos, and the crunchy munchies but we were just too full. I guess I have an excuse to go back again! LOL!

sbtagent Posted May 10, 2012 #63 Share Posted May 10, 2012 I chose this cruise in part due to the interesting itinerary - Tortola was a new port for me, and I was excited to have 2 days in Bermuda as I had been there for a day on a prior cruise and loved it. I also found excellent prices on direct flights which corresponded well with the cruise itinerary. I was also drawn in by the ship, as it had recently been Solsticized and I had heard good things about the "new and improved" Summit. I was on this cruise too. I could not like the Waterfall grill which is similar too Winjammer on RCCL. To have to ask for any item from crew behind a glas fence, was irritating. Longer lines than on RCCL. But, the food was very good on this cruise ship, much better food for dinner than on RCCL. The wardrobe closet was not as 'intelligent' as on RCCL, and my cabin was smaller than similar category on RCCL, balcony cabins on RCCL have more space. Desk and sofa was very small. Our cabin had a larger balcony than the next door Consierge class cabin, but I could guess they instead had more inside space. If I should go back to Celebrity again, it would be for the food quality and intinerary. The solsticesation did not mean a lot to me. These ships had nice interior from the start, and the Solsticesation was merely some new dining alternatives. Pictures are from cabin 7177, the bathroom corner became a little better during the cruise, - the staeroom attendant came onboard on this cruise and had hadmany hours of flying from Manila via Hong Kong and New York to San Juan. Elvi was a kind and good staeroom attendant, and in fact there are some helpers who are responsible for the bathrooms. The beach picture is from Trunk Beach, St John. newsier Posted May 10, 2012 #64 Share Posted May 10, 2012 Qsine looks like a hoot. If I can ask, what was the up-charge for this restaurant? I am use to the speciality restaurants on RCCL ships - those will seem boring compared to Qsine. Also, I was looking at the deck plans for Summit and did not see Qsine, what deck isn't on? Your review is making us look so forward to our "first" Celebrity cruise. g
librarylady19 Posted May 10, 2012 #65 Share Posted May 10, 2012 Qsine is $40 pp and is located on deck 11 where the conservatory used to be. You might find a special for 20% off at Qsine for the first night to book in advance or I understand there might be discounts offered onboard. We booked early since I wanted to be assured of an early seating time on DHs birthday. It is a 3 hour experience and well worth it!

fninsn Posted May 10, 2012 #67 Share Posted May 10, 2012 Hi Again Newbcruiser1 Forgot to mention that my sister and I were on the same flight as you from Toronto to San Juan and we thought it was the most entertaining flight crew ever!! Great way to start off a great vacation. It's too bad you missed the Newlywed game, it was a riot. Sue Denning did a great job of getting people out to these events in the evenings. Every night time event in the Revelations lounge was packed with standing room only. Also wanted to mention that we loved Nestor Santurio or "Puss'n'Boots" as you called him. Great nickname. Can't wait to hear and see more.

jacksback Posted May 10, 2012 #70 Share Posted May 10, 2012 Thanks for taking the picture of me and Melissa jumping off the rock @ the Baths.......Loved Virgin Gorda - boulders all over the island looks different from the other islands......Was afraid to try Q because I have allergy to seafood and if that is what the majority of people order I would be SOL but it looked great. cindygad Posted May 10, 2012 #72 Share Posted May 10, 2012 What a great report. Thank you for taking the time to post so many pictures! I have been on Summit before and wanted to see what has changed before cruising her again in Nov. Is there a fusion bar? I love your honesty with the pro's and neg's. I wasn't even sure who you guys were in person but I'm so glad posting that picture paid off! :) Regarding Qsine, a lot of the dishes did have seafood but they had a lot that didn't (i.e. tacos, sliders, meatballs, crunchy munchies, spring rolls, etc) and I'm sure those that had some seafood items could have been modified (like leaving out the shrimp dish in the Chinese food). I'd recommend trying it next time - I'm sure they could help make some recommendations with your allergy. Great review and great meeting you. My husband is in this pic! I'll have to let him know he's famous now :) Ash, I'm glad you noticed him in that picture! LOL! What a great report. Thank you for taking the time to post so many pictures! Sue really did a great job with the activities from the ones I saw (i.e. Dancing with the Stripes). I was sad to have missed the Newlywed game but wasn't up for standing for an hour when I was so stuffed after Qsine! LOL! I see that you're sailing on the Summit again this winter - I'm jealous! You'll have to let us know if there was any difference in service and such by then since I'm sure many of the crew members will have changed over. Newbcruiser1 Posted May 10, 2012 Author #75 Share Posted May 10, 2012 I forgot to mention this earlier on day 3's report so I'll stick it in now. After I left the note requesting beach towels in the evening and ice twice a day, I ran into Joseph, my room attendant on my way out for the day. He asked if everything was okay and I politely asked if he could please leave me ice twice a day when he makes up the room. He told me I could just call the front desk whenever I needed it. I mentioned I'd rather not have to call and wait for it, but if he could provide some when he does the room, I would appreciate it. I also mentioned that I hadn't received any at all the day before (it was the same tiny amount of water sitting in the bucket from day 1). He became very defensive and argumentative and explained to me that "the ice melts and becomes water". I was a little bit offended that he was explaining that to me like I was a child. I told him that the ice buckets generally do a good job of keeping at least some of it frozen, and that would be sufficient. What an odd conversation. I wasn't thrilled that he was arguing about it with me, but at least from that point forward I was given a full ice bucket twice a day! The beach towel was another story - I was only given one once, on the day that I asked.
