Marlene43 Posted May 9, 2012 #1 Share Posted May 9, 2012 Does anyone know the best way to get from the Amsterdam airport to the ship doct. WE sail on the Eurodam Aug 29th and don't arrive in Amsterdam until 12:30 and the ship sails at 5pm. Thanks for any help.
CruiserBruce Posted May 9, 2012 #2 Share Posted May 9, 2012 Welcome to Cruise Critic! Define "best". For us it is in the back of a limo sipping champagne. Getting into a city that close to sailing is an invitation for trouble. What if your flight is late? Ground transport in this area is covered extensively on the Western Europe boards, here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=

Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport has it's own train station underneath Departures/Aririvals and the ride to Amsterdam-Centraal Station only takes about 20-25 min. There is not a heck of a lot of space to store major luggage in the compartment and if the train is full, some other pax will not appreciate you "storing" luggage on the seats next to/in front of you;) The walk from A'dam Centraal to the cruise terminal on the Oostelijke Handelskade is another 10 min and is doable, again depending on how much luggage you have to haul with/behind you. So, to avoid any "aggravations" and/or extra anxiety, take a ride in a Mercedes-benz cab from Schiphol and enjoy the ride. Have a great time on Eurodam and enjoy Western Europe! Boytjie Posted May 9, 2012 #4 Share Posted May 9, 2012 Welcome to Cruise Critic! Since your cruise is more than a year away, I would strongly suggest looking into arriving earlier - preferably a day early. The ship may sail at 5 PM but you will have to be onboard earlier than that. Even a small flight delay could cause you to miss the ship's departure.
