musicgal Posted May 24, 2012 #1 Share Posted May 24, 2012 Posting this in CCL because Galveston is strongly connected to Carnival- the new pleasure pier (across from Fishtails restaurant) is having it's "soft" opening this weekend. It's a brand new ConeyIsland type amusement area, which should be a blast for kids and teens. Good news for those who have time before or after their Magic or Triumph cruise:) Official Grand Opening later this summer.
GenericUserID Posted May 24, 2012 #2 Share Posted May 24, 2012 Ugh ... this is a Landry's project being built by Tillman Fertita. Like everything else he builds, it will be underwhelming and dramatically overpriced. DON'T GO until he figures out how to better appreciate his local community and his employees. I understand! and I usually don't eat in his restaurants! But having gone through Ike and the rebuilding of Galveston, I appreciate Tillman Fertita a heck of alot more than I used to! After Ike he turned his properties around to get them operational, and helped Galveston's local community recover very quickly! He took care of a lot of employees from Galveston.... in his others ventures on the Mainland to the north until Galveston Island ventures were turned around. A lot of good things were said about him who went into double time to get things done! Yes he is a driven man, but he makes things happen, when they need to happen, and he has the holding power, and he is successful at it! Landry's (Tillman) overall is good for Galveston Island!
