IOTS v Sunbeds

Recommended Posts

Seriously, if a dry towel has been sitting there for a period of time with no occupant just take it off and let one of the attendants know about it.

Is the towel trying to get a suntan?

On a side note: if they attached all the towels together on the IOS pool deck that were unoccupied you could probably build a sail large enough to really help RCI "save the waves".

If I was wanting a good sunbathing session on a sea day i am afraid I would have claimed my bed before doing anything else , especially if I wanted a certain spot , we have gone poolside before breakfast and claimed beds then one of us would go and eat while the other stayed put

I agree with this - unfortunately it's just the way it is, and we've found it whether in Europe or the Caribbean, on RC or Celebrity.

We also do this for breakfast (and for lunch) but mainly because I really dislike the Windjammer so prefer to grab a plate of food and take it up on deck where the scenery and the atmosphere is better ;)

I do sympathise with your need to eat separately at lunch with the sunbed issue.

Hope you enjoy your cruising.

dh rarely eats lunch onboard as he has a big breakfast , where I have a coffee for breakfast and eat lunch so he brings back a coffee for me after his breakfast and I leave him to bask while I grab a plate at lunchtime and bring it back to my sun bed , this obviously wouldn't work for everyone .

I think having to claim a sun bed because there is a lack of them is always going to raise the very issue we're talking about.

I also think its a shame you don't have the confidence in the sunbed situation to spend lunch time with your partner, I'm not that fussed about the bed when it comes to spending time with my spouse at lunch time.

You should not have to guard your sunbed when lunch time arrives.

The recent cruise returned from was booked a year or so back, and at full price, unlike all the last minute deals that are on the market now.

Every cruise we've done has been enjoyable, unfortunately the Gibraltar thing has never been pleasant when dealing with Rccl, that has everything to do with Rccl as oppose to what happened In Gib.

We have a B2B on AOTS in Nov/Dec, we have done that much cruising this last 3 or 4 years that together with the Gib experience, we are looking at doing other stuff now.

During the last 14 nights on Independence we have done an onboard spend of over $10,200, when we wanted a resolution from Rccl more to our liking last year, it was nothing to do with being hard up.

Now that we've stopped booking their rooms, they can count the cost, people can say it won't make any difference to the Rccl bottom line, you won't find a bank manager or shareholder saying the same thing.

Independence is a great looking ship, the RCCL higherachy are the ones who've messed it up, when they are selling 14 night med cruises for £699 due to a lack of buyers, then it's time to think about the ones they let get away.

I do sympathise with your need to eat separately at lunch with the sunbed issue.

what a load of tosh,

My wife sometimes goes to windjammer and brings some salad back, however when at sea we prefer to go to MDR for lunch, the 30 minute ruling does not give you enough time in the MDR either.

You obviously enjoy your cruising

What is tosh about telling you that at 10:30am on the 6th June 2012 when onboard the IOTS there was no sunbeds available, where was you at that time.

Do you want me to scan my sea pass bill to prove to you what I spent, there is a difference between an onboard spend and an onboard CREDIT.

I'm just wondering who all those people were with blue towels under their arms that day, I'm really confused!hmm.

Has it registered.

I love my cruising , I have done six cruises since june 2010 , I have had nothing but good experiences , however had I had bad experiences then I would consider land based holidays instead .

Am I reading right that your onboard spend was $10,200 14 days on Indy ? I would want four cruises for that much , I am sure I must have read it wrong .

Linda .

Yeah $10,200, and RCCL can't look after you, about £7000, the person before you appears to have a right problem with things, it might be that they don't have that kind of money to spare.

Do you remember the price of the boxes of 400 cigarettes, last month on the Cork cruise they we're €60, now they're €90 what does that represent in your eyes..

Is there anyone out there who can answer the question regarding the cigarettes issue for a certain individual

What "Bad Time" and "Mistake" is this you're referring too, please elaborate with factual detail, for all of us to read, please....

We bought some fantastic Art on the ship, I think Rccl would sooner see that expenditure go through the casino, however I like to see something for me money, I'm not sure what the big issue with this other person saying its a load of tosh, what's the big deal with spending some money. I'd willingly forward my onboard account to you if you wanted to help address this "problem"....

After reading the argument going back and forth on this thread, I think you'd have been better spending the money on tipping the pool attendant to keep you a reserved sunbed

The pool attendant was probably the only person we didn't tip, unlike some, but never mind.

I don't really understand why the amount you willingly spent onboard can have anything to do with how royal treat you , I am guessing the poster you are referring to finds it hard to understand why you are ploughing so much money into something that annoys you so much .

Maybe you ought to consider some of the luxury cruise lines in future , they may be more suitable for your expectations .

My expectations are the same as the biggest majority, every customer going needs customer care, more so than ever when things go wrong. It doesnt matter if your purchase is the cheapest or most expensive of items, quality customer care will always be appreciated by any purchaser.

I believe the previous poster is having a hard time believing someone has that type of money to spend at all. We all get what we work for I suppose. The previous poster read it totally wrong and thought RCCL were giving onboard CREDITS of $10,200, now that would be nice eh.

And you never answered my question on that thread. Did an RCI employee initiate that discussion with you or did you feel it was appropriate to ask one of their employees for that information?

I didn't return to that thread, so was unaware of any questions, seeing as there is always big discussion on here regarding gratuities and who does or doesn't pay, I thought I'd ask a waiter, 35% of customers prepay on Independence apparently. We were also told by our TA some years ago that we we're in the minority when prepaying our tips.

I say each to their own, however I wouldn't want to go to work and not get paid, hence why we prepay and then some.

Sometimes the subject of wages does crop up in conversation with crew , it happened to us once with our cabin steward ,after being on board for nearly a week whilst chatting to our lovely steward we found out that her husband was the comical pool waiter , we said had we known we would have bought any drinks from him , she said oh yes please do as he doesn't earn anything he is solely on commission .now we were shocked by this and questioned it and she was adamant that that is what happened, We did not ask about wages it purely came up in conversation because we were asking her about missing her family and she told us she was lucky in having her husband on board , that ended up in us finding out it was the said waiter .However people on here are very touchy about guests asking crew members personal information such as wages , that's why I think the previous poster was interested in why you would ask such personal info .

On another note , maybe you should start a thread on who has the highest onboard account , I think you would be in the running for winning that one :D

TFB!!! Then you give up the right to that chair; If you CHOOSE to go to the MDR, you cannot reasonably expect to keep your chair(s) for that long. That is the downside of eating in the MDR
