NCL Epic - September 26, 2012 thru October 3, 2012 Roll Call

I guess I'm the first to post anything on the Epic's 7-night Mediterranean adventure. Apparently, this ship has overlapping cruises whereby some people board a few days earlier in a different port, while others do the same later. This one leaves from Rome, Italy on the 26th of September, 2012, and it ends up in Rome, Italy on October 3, 2012.

Happy sailing, and WELCOME ABOARD!

This will be my 1st NCL cruise, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it compares to RC's ships/cruises.

hi there! I'm on the same cruise! Hope to see some more people on here for roll call!! I am sailing solo in one of the studio cabins.....a bit nervous but have read some great reviews......hoping for the best!

Thanks for posting on this thread. I was beginning to think no one else was sailing with us. Those studio cabins LQQK pretty cool on the web site. I hope it's what you expect or better!

Welcome aboard, and I hope to meet up with you in about 52 days!

hi soxboy! I am booked for cinque Terre on NCL from Livorno....but looking to share any other excursions, in particular amalfi....doesn't look like any action on roll call...hopefully we can do our own M&G!

Sunny

My 2 friends & I have not really looked at the excursions yet, but we need to do that very soon! Keep in touch, Sunny! We may find something to do together. I know I want to climb the leaning tower of Pisa.

Add two more to the Sept 26th sailing.......

My wife and I will be including this cruise as part of a 22 day Europe trip for our 20th wedding anniversary. Trip will play our as follows; Venice - Florence - Cruise on Epic - Rome - Amsterdam.

Have signed up for only one of the ships port tours, Cinque Terre, due to board postings about time constraints on doing on own. Would have considered hiring private guide but some what expensive with just the two of us. We are also looking at doing the NCL tour of Pompay for same issues as Cinque Terre time constraint concerns.

On board ship we have already booked Spanish Ballet for the 29th at 8pm and Cirque for the 30th at 8:30pm and lastly the Blue Man Group for 10/1 for 7pm.

Any sharing of insights or, suggestions for cruise ports, ship activities or other cities mentioned would be appreciated.

Looked forward to hearing from any of you or others that can shed insight.

Sounds like a great trip you have planned! I also will be in Florence prior to sailing....as well as on the NCL Cinque Terre! I am doing Pompeii and Almalfi coastline through APtours.....MUCH less than the ship excursion, and I am sure there is probably room for two more.....just curious, have you arranged for private transportation from Florence to the port...or are you going by train?

Be seeing u soon!

Yes, the train is probably the best option.....there are 2 ways to go...through Rome or through Pisa....I have left the25th open as I'm not sure if I will stay in Florence, Pisa or Rome for that night. The only other option is to rent a car, but I'm traveling alone and may get lost and miss the ship! Lolol.....Let's meet for a drink in Florence! I will be staying a few minutes from the duomo....while in Florence I'm planning on some day trips as well as a cooking class. The tour in Naples with AP gets less expensive with more people....I believe its maxed out at 19....there is about a 3 day turnaround with AP response, as they do all communication by email. ....good luck!

Sunny, you will be on this tour with my 2 friends. They wanted to do this, but I really wanted to climb the Leaning Tower of Pisa. I booked the Pisa Tower Climb excursion. I don't know who else is doing that one. I'm sure you will enjoy Cinque Terre.

Hi Everyone!

My Fiance and I are also boarding in Rome on the 26th. We need to book ALL of our excursions! Any suggestions are appreciated! Can't wait!

I guess it depends on what you like to do and whether you like to cram in everything on a vacation or relax a bit.

I must confess that choosing excursions for this cruise have been difficult. I'm used to choosing things like zip lines and sailboat & snorkle activities. Touring Europe is so different. It's all about looking at old, dead things and Roman Catholic churches.

We do not have anything planned yet for Marseille, and we do not plan on doing anything in Barcelona. We will be in Barcelona on a Sunday, and so many things are closed that day. Nothing stands out as noteworthy in Marseille. I'm climing the Leaning Tower of Pisa, while my 2 buddies are doing the Cinque Terre excursion in Florence/Pisa. In Naples we are are going to do Mt. Vesuvius & Pompeii. I wanted to do the Isle of Capri when docked in Naples, but ended up choosing the volcano. Since you and your fiancée are travelling, you may want to consider doing the "Capri - Isle of Romance" tour. You would get to ride a hydrofoil and a funicular. (Look it up!) The tour in Naples that had to do with Pizza and Secret Tunnels also looked good.

You all also may want to venture into some of the cities yourself and find romantic cafés.

Happy searching!

I'm glad to see more people doing this sailing. I've never heard of a sailing that starts/ends in a different port from others' sailings for virtually the same cruise. When we booked our cruise, I don't think starting & ending in Barcelona or the other non-Rome cities were even in option.

There are 3 of us travelling together.

We've got Cinque Terre for 2 and Pisa Tower Climb for me on the 27th with Los Locos Ole at 7:30 PM.

The 28th puts us on an 8 hour excursion to Monaco/Monte Carlo. I hope to put 1 coin in one of their casinos and actually pay for this trip! (Between the flight, additional transportation, the cruise, and excursions, this will be VERY expensive!)

I don't think anyone had interest in the Spanish ballet show. I know that's not my thing.

We're on for Blue Man Group at 10 PM on the 30th.

We are doing Cirque Dreams & Dinner on the 1st at 6:30 PM.

On the 2nd, we will be climbing Mount Vesuvius and touring Pompeii, and then watching Legends at 10 PM that night.

I'm not one for live shows like this, but since NCL requires one to book them in order to reserve a seat, I went ahead and did it.

Excursions that appealed to me include the Capri-Isle of Romance & another one in Naples regarding Pizza and Secret Tunnels.

You might want to consider Hilltop Le Castellet & Seaside Bandol in Marseille. Read the review.

Happy 20th Anniversary!

I finally found the right place. I was looking for the September 26th thread but didn't see it so I posted in the 23rd thread. It gets confusing since people are at different ports at different times.

My husband and I will be cruising from Rome on the 26th. We are so excited to get to see some new places. We have cruised through the Caribbean and Mexico but this is our first in Euope.I have visited a few places in Europe but my husband has only been to Greece a few times with me (my family is from there).

We want to balance ourselves between visiting sites and relaxing and enjoying some much needed time off of work.

We are 33 and 36 and very social. We haven't been on a vacation we didn't make some new friends on... Hope this one is the same.

I just saw that this is under the gay and lesbian role call... Sorry, I didn't pay attention when I posted. Is there a Sept 26th role call some where else? Maybe there are more travelers.

OOOOOPS!! I just started a new thread.....was not aware either....I will stay on both tho!
