DelaPair Posted July 4, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 4, 2012 The day before we leave for our cruise, we will be driving from L'Aquila to Civitavecchia. It looks like the most direct route takes us around Rome. Is it worth it to go way out of the way (to the north) to avoid the Rome ring road? We will be driving near Rome around 2pm on a weekday. I appreciate any advice. Thanks!
euro cruiser Posted July 4, 2012 #2 Share Posted July 4, 2012 Unless they happen to be doing construction on the ring road it will be fine in the middle of the afternoon, unlike the DC beltway which seems to be busy 24/7.

Excellent. Thank you! Having lived in DC and Northern Virginia for several years, I can appreciate your comparison. Now, I just need to get over my apprehension about driving a stick shift when I haven't done it in about a dozen years...
