justfred Posted July 5, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 5, 2012 We have just booked and paid for a cruise on Splendour from Venice for September, with our son and his partner. The cruise was advertised by RCCL offering a 100 $ on board credit if booked by a specific date which we qualified for, we booked a Balcony cabin so that we would qualify for our entitled D+ balcony discount, we have since been informed by Rccl that we cannot combine (their OBC) and balcony discount?. (what a joke), we were encouraged to book this cruise by their advert, and if we were told this before booking we might have just booked a window and saved a fortune and still got the 100$ OBC or perhaps just chose a different cruise. Its difficult to understand their logic, because it actually encourages D+ members to spend less money on an inside or window cabin which effectively reduces their income, ( we just cannot understand their motives). Our son and his partner who are gold members get the OBC, with the same balcony type which in effect means that loyal Diamond members who book the same cabin loose out because they have already earned the balcony discounts by previous spending with RCCL. What do you think, I would appreciate your opinions. Chris & Pete
lady_cruiser Posted July 5, 2012 #2 Share Posted July 5, 2012 I think you need to call back the Crown and Anchor Department and speak with someone else and explain what you just wrote here.
PudgiPoo Posted July 5, 2012 #3 Share Posted July 5, 2012 This is why we book on board and get a next cruise certificate to use if we need it. With this you can combine two benefits. I think you might be able to call and change to an OV and get the OBC, but you would lose the balcony and the $250 price deduction.
