Rare Hlitner Posted September 7, 2012 #26 Share Posted September 7, 2012 Naples has set taxi fares, no need to negotiate. The set fare for a full day tour of the Amalfi Coast is 220 Euro. LOL Euro, you and I do not often disagree but my challenge to you would be to try and find a taxi in Naples that will do the tour for that price. The official tariffs are out of date and seldom honored for anything more then a few miles from Naples. I believe Rick Steves had it right back in 2009 when they referenced those same rates and said, "you need to agree with the driver" on the real rates. euro cruiser Posted September 7, 2012 #27 Share Posted September 7, 2012 I don't know Hank, these are the rates that are posted in the taxis. To be fair, I've never tried to hire one for a full day but I haven't had any push back on the fixed fares I have asked for.

You're funny -- when I sell the movie rights and buy my apartment in Rome, you can come and stay. :D

cb747 Posted September 8, 2012 #31 Share Posted September 8, 2012 Euro Cruiser, Thank you for the web site. I tried it and it mentioned it had fixed rates and if I'm reading the fare correctly the rate to Amalfi was 130 Euro Each way. :-( Chantal
