attn Legend cruisers

Hi we just returned sunday from our cruise and here a few things you might want a heads up about.

most of our group felt that the ship was very cold, especially in public areas so take some long sleeves and or a sweater.

the dining rooms are unable to accomadate any large group over the size of 9 to be seated together. we were a party of 13 and could never get seated at the same table, we had to split our group into two tables. even in the steakhouse. we were dissapointed that we could not sit together.

southwest airlines does not participate in luggage express. i was unable to get this information ahead of time, so all you folks who plan to use it, i saw delta, air tran, united, american airlines. all participated. at tampa port. we had 11:20 am flights, got debarking zone 3 tags, and made it to the airport in tampa by 10:00 am .

no problem, we were stressed about getting off the ship in time, we had 4 heavy bags and a carry on. could not manage to do self assist so we had to wait to get off the ship. they will not let you off earlier than 9 am if you dont do self assist. we were off the ship at 9:15 and grabbed a porter who helped us with bags and get a taxi. our taxi cost $25 for the car load, not per person. first group off was non us citizens then self assist and then special needs handicap and then they started to call the zones.

in the firebird lounge (punchliners comedy club) there is back to back comedians and shows are family friendly and then adult shows afterward. if you show up and have seats for the family friendly comedy, they make you leave the showroom and give up your seats and go get at the end of the line forming outside the showroom for the adult shows. so if you want to see the adult shows, skip the first set because by the time you have to go to the end of the line, there are no seats left. people start lining up outside for the adult shows before the first act is finished.

hope this info helps some folks.

Thanks for posting, especially about not getting off prior to 9:15 if you don't do self assist, we are being picked up by our hotel, so I guess that is not an urgent early departure. May consider staying down in FL once more day then.:)

Curious...did you have anytime dining? We cruised in september last year and got a table for 11 all together at early dining.

we did the your time dining. but after the first night, we asked if we switched to early seating in the other dining room if they would be able to seat us all together but they said no. they said there was no way to seat a group larger than 9 because we were going to do 10 and 3 but they couldnt even seat us 10 together. so we stayed with the your time dining.

thanks so much for this info. We are sailing tomorrow!!! I keep reading about people bringing battery operated fans as the cabins get hot. Did you find that on the Legend recently?

Any trouble with finding chairs, seating anywhere on the ship?

Going with the flow and not stressing about too much right now!

I will post a review upon our return.

This isn't true. We had 10 in our group and we all sat together. It wasn't a round table, but they just pushed us all together in one long rectangle. Maybe because we had early dining? Maybe it's a problem with the Your Time dining.

And I do second about the coldness in the public areas. We all brought long sleeves with us in the dining room, the casino and the show's...

Enjoy!

Shawn

What is the "luggage express" you speak of ?

For an additional fee, they will take your checked luggage to the airport for you, many of the major airlines accept your bags from the luggage express reps. LE is nice if you have time to do something post-cruise without having to lug your bags around with you.

Do you happen to know the fee?

I haven't sailed legend yet, but this is good advice for every ship, I think. Some of the spaces can be freeeeeezing. And I'm a northerner!

yes we were all booked in anytime dining. we did ask to move to the other regular assigned time if they could accomodate us, but they said they couldnt.

I tried this on our last cruise and wasn't really happy with it.

I think the fee was $25. The problem is we are accustomed to getting off the ship at will and with the luggage express, they have you wait in a specified area and you all leave at once. I am not sure why, I assume it is in case customs has any questions about your luggage before you leave the terminal. This delay could be an issue for those with flights before noon.

Also, if you have prearranged transport, you can't give them a specific time to be there. It is actually quicker to get off when they call zone 1 (platinum), grab a porter to help you with your bags, and wisk through customs.

Our bags did make it to our flight and home safely. I just didn't like the delay to leave the ship.

My neice and I will be on the Legend in November--first Carnival cruise for each of us.

Does the cabin safe use a combination, a key, or a card?

I know the shower has gel and shampoo. Is there bar soap to use at the sink? Any lotion?

A lot of reviews complain about cold food in the MDR. How did you like the food?

Thanks for any information you can give us.

the safe uses a card, it worked with the room key card or driver license

yes there was tiny bar soaps at the sink, and i did not see any little lotions, we took our own lotion.

the food was not hot but warm :)

I got off (reluctantly) on Sunday as well! I agree about the cabin temp. being warm. We were cold in common areas occasionally but not as bad as the Glory a year ago April. We did walk off luggage. There is no good way to disembark.

Also, I seem to remember having a SET of outlets on previous cruises. In our interior room there was only ONE outlet. Bring a power cord.

I am hoping to find some time to post a review this weekend for those interested. Still haven't unpacked everything though so should probably do that first :)
