Loop Posted July 29, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2012 Where can I get best exchange rate for dollar to euro conversion?
CruiserBruce Posted July 29, 2012 #2 Share Posted July 29, 2012 If you read the boards, you will see this question asked regularly. Answer, through an ATM. Use the ones inside the bank, those are the most secure.
Travelcat2 Posted July 29, 2012 #3 Share Posted July 29, 2012 Agree that a bank ATM is the best place to get Euros. Suggest not getting more than you can use as the Euro hasn't been stable lately -- you probably don't want to have a lot left over.

fishywood Posted July 29, 2012 #5 Share Posted July 29, 2012 Start with a bank that you do regular business with. Many offer better rates and/or waive transaction fees to customers with premium checking or money market accounts if you make the exchange as an electronic debit to your account. A longer shot may be if any major shopping malls in your area have currency exchange booths. They all charge basically extortion rates to foreign tourists buying US Dollars, but can be reasonably fair when selling a currency they take in a lot of (here in Florida you can buy GBP at a mall for less than at any bureau in London). RoofingPrincess Posted July 29, 2012 #6 Share Posted July 29, 2012 If you have a AAA membership, you can also get Euro through them.
Rare Keith1010 Posted July 30, 2012 #7 Share Posted July 30, 2012 If you want to purchase in the USA then I would contact the bank you regularly utilize to see what their rates are. You can then compare that to say a Travelex. Keith
goose30 Posted July 30, 2012 #8 Share Posted July 30, 2012 Many of your local banks will sell Euros but will not buy them back. American Express travel centers do both. I suggest buy at your bank and be prepared to sell at AMEX or similar. Or better still spend them all and don't bring any back.
