girlscruise2011 Posted September 3, 2012 #901 Share Posted September 3, 2012 Just got off The Liberty this morning(I am now at FLL waiting for my flight, I wanted to comment on FTTF. After the initial line to get into the building checking in was a breeze, I think it took all of 15 minutes ( if that) between checking in and getting on the ship, we headed right to our cabin to drop off carry ons and the had a quick lunch, when I got back to my cabin our luggage was waiting, we had not even been on an hour. The regular check in line was looooonnnnnnggggggg. No problem at guest services either, only once did I have to wait behind someone, overall I would do FTTF again. Thanks for the update. I purchased the FTTF for my 2 rooms in November. Love the idea of dropping off those darn carry on bags. Did you use the FTTF for the tenders in Belize or Grand Caymans? I have non Carnival excursions and this was the main reason I bought the FTTF to get off the ship ASAP. It also irks me that these perks that many of us earned by being repeat CCL cruisers are now simply for sale. Why does it irk you? You are getting something that you earned for free that I'm paying $50 a room for. I would be saying...Ha! Ha! :D
Shipbound Posted September 3, 2012 #902 Share Posted September 3, 2012 It didn't say anything about early tenders or early debarkation ......it said early embarkation and early luggage delivery and access to VIP at Guest Services for $50 actually as a Diamond guest....... it irks me that they would make these perks available to anyone who PAYS........when I had to sail over 200 days to get them Barb I agree, but is a way for CCL to make more money Gary
Shipbound Posted September 3, 2012 #903 Share Posted September 3, 2012 I have to laugh at priority boarding. Twice now in Port Canaveral, we entered the building at the same time as VIPs. They went to the left to a small office like room. We went right to a large open area with hundreds of people in it. We went straight through and boarded the ship before the people that were VIP. There was only one person checking people in at the VIP area whereas there were what seemed like 20-30 in the regular area. You are correct!! the VIP lounge is a joke, there are not enough personal working for the number of VIP guests, now with this program hold on to your hats. Star1 Posted September 3, 2012 #905 Share Posted September 3, 2012 So what keeps me from putting my carry-ons into my cabin when I first get on the ship??? We get to the port early and we are always in group 1 or 2 to get on the ship. Also if you get to the tenders early you get off the ship early. I guess I don't understand why someone would pay $50 to get what is free anyways. You just have to plan your days to work out the best. What am I missing??? Relax and enjoy
mclinns04 Posted September 3, 2012 #906 Share Posted September 3, 2012 On every ship that we have been on, there have been large doors that close off the hallways until the rooms are ready.

Thanks for reporting back with your experience! I'm very much looking forward to using F2F on our cruise in November. They've just added more spots to our sailing (the original number was 15). I imagine they'll continue to increase until they find the magic number of what's manageable...
Rare Tom-n-Cheryl Posted September 3, 2012 #910 Share Posted September 3, 2012 And yet, they are shut for the purpose of keeping folks out of them 'til the rooms are ready! ;) It does deter a vast majority of cruisers, which is their goal. They likely never expect (nor achieve) 100% compliance. Tom
moebetta Posted September 3, 2012 #911 Share Posted September 3, 2012 More than happy to pay the $49.95 for this service. Luggage usually takes about two hours to arrive to the cabin.
Jeffy294 Posted September 3, 2012 #912 Share Posted September 3, 2012 Though shut, the doors are not locked. Tom Several times in the past I have went in, dropped my luggage and found the cabin steward and give him and tip and explained what I was doing. It seemed like it was rather normal a couple years back on here.

funfamilyof6 Posted September 4, 2012 #915 Share Posted September 4, 2012 MIZZ_K & the others who did the FTTF - How were you identified as a FTTF person? I'm asking specifically about tendering. I don't want to get mad at the FTTF people who get the priority tendering with the Platinum/Milestoners. TIA They put a special sticker on the back of your card. We got priority tendering by going to guest services and someone came to the desk to meet us and escort us down a special elevator to the front of the tender line, we never had to wait more than 2 minutes. To be honest, I was shocked with all of the lines that we would have had to wait on without the FTTF passes. I am talking HUGE lines. We never experienced or saw these lines with RCCL, especially the check in and tender lines. The only lines we had to wait on the entire week, due to purchasing the FTTF passes for our cabins, were the buffet lines. I don't think I would want to cruise with Carnival without these passes being available.

Thanks for this info, we have purchased the FTTF for our cruise in 4 weeks time mainly for the early embarkation and early cabin access but the priority tender sounds good too!! $50 for three of us is a bargain:D
jnky Posted September 4, 2012 #918 Share Posted September 4, 2012 I usually do this also. I hand the steward a 20 and keep moving. So then, which is worse? We, who chose to pay for the privelege honestly and irritating the platinum guests through no fault of our own, or someone who knowingly breaks the rules enabling Carnival to initiate the program in the first place? Interesting ~
ymillo Posted September 4, 2012 #919 Share Posted September 4, 2012 Then there are other alternatives, like paying for concierge services on other lines. Same idea, always a way to make more revenue for the company and those (like me) are willing to pay for other services. I don't begrudge you your perks, and they are still perks, as you aren't paying for them. It's no different than paying first class in planes and trains. Thank you!! Perfect example! It really pisses me off how Snooty people can get. Just be happy that you are getting the benefits FREE. People who participate in the program will still have to pay! And geez whats all the fuss about its just being implemented on 2 ships! We love cruising and are now doing 2 a year , we are gold members and farr from being diamond & i could honestly care less for free laundry and VIP check in. Im just happy to be on vacation and I wil always think this way! I dont understand why people feel the need to be better than other all the time. These people will be paying while you get it free. Just be happy & thankful your on vacay! Theres ppl who cant even afford 1 day in a hotel room!

Some people in order to boost their self esteem have to put other people down for being inferior in some way. In reality they themselves are the inferior people. I have never needed to put any one down in order to make myself feel good.

We are also doing a non-Carnival tour and need to get off early. My problem is I have a FTF pass and my friends, who are booked on the tour with me, do not. You had FTF for all your cabins though, right? So, that didn't matter. I was just hoping they could come with me on the priority boarding, so they wouldn't have to worry about not getting on the same tender as me b/c they are new cruisers. Its a shame though, I paid for an entire cabin, but I'm the only one in the cabin. I guess those are the breaks.

People with low self esteem will put down or criticize others to make them feel like they are superior. People who are insecure cover this up by lashing out at others to hide their own inadequacies. They definitely have insecurities about themselves.

Yes, we purchased a FTTF pass for each cabin and they were checking that we had done so for both rooms even at check in. Another great plus, which is not mentioned a lot, is that we were able to go to the priority customer service line. The regular line was usually very long. For all of those purchasing these passes, we were able to use the excursion discount code for each pass, so in the end the pass only cost around $40 for each one if I remember correctly.
