csic Posted September 10, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2012 Need recommendations for one night pre-cruise before January cruise. Arrive about 3pm the day before. Would like to have a hotel with a airport shuttle since I have already purchased transfers from airport to cruise terminal. Also, would like to be near local restaurants and shopping area so we can pick up wine and other essentials before cruise. Like beach areas, but does not have to be since it is January and it will probably be cold. Interested in the water taxi as well.
JohninDC Posted September 10, 2012 #2 Share Posted September 10, 2012 Look at hotels in the 17th St. downtown area -- every version of the Hilton and Marriott brands plus many others are scattered there. We like the Embassy Suites - big rooms, nice pool, great breakfast, shopping and dining within walking distance and free happy hour! :D Cancel your transfers if you can -- you will save money by using a taxi from FLL to the hotel, to the port from the hotel, and from the port to FLL. Good luck! :)
Rare Azulann Posted September 10, 2012 #3 Share Posted September 10, 2012 Check out Gallery One. We picked this hotel because there is a mall across the street and grocery store, and it is water taxi stop too. We will be using cabs for our transport to and from the airport, hotel, and port. royalcruz Posted September 11, 2012 #4 Share Posted September 11, 2012 It sounds like the 17th St/port/convention center area would suit your needs. I think Hyatt Place Convention Center and Holiday Inn Express Convention Center have free airport shuttles. People get good rates for Hyatt Place on valuetrips. Husky61 Posted September 11, 2012 #5 Share Posted September 11, 2012 We have always stayed at the Cambria Suites, airport shuttle and cruise port shuttle, plus a great rate.:)
eandj Posted September 11, 2012 #6 Share Posted September 11, 2012 Cancel your trnsfers for sure. Makes little sense in your case. Cabs are more cost efficient and covenient as well as giving you flexibility.
