jonbgd Posted September 27, 2012 #51 Share Posted September 27, 2012 Well now I have to try the flat iron steak. Never sounded good and not because only of the CC boards. I'm new to CC and learned quick if your week minded you should not be on here regularly. It's kind of like boot camp if you know what to expect you will handle it a lot better. Humanity is humanity, don't take it personally. Wow comparing CC to boot camp that is a first. Im not sure anything can help prepare you for that;). But I do understand what you are trying to say. To the OP the flat iron steak isnt a ribeye but it was good when I had it
ctdahlquist Posted September 27, 2012 Author #52 Share Posted September 27, 2012 I am really happy that my thread has been read with interest! It seems to have prompted some additional research and education on Flat Iron Steaks and maybe some new perspectives! Not everyone likes it (this represents a valid and legitimate opinion), but there are plenty of people who love it (including me). Happy cruising! Rottweiler Puppy Posted September 27, 2012 #56 Share Posted September 27, 2012 flat iron i think is the same as skirt steak which used to be called butchers cut because the butchers knew how good they were kept to themselfs great medium rare, and cut at angle against the grain Butchers steak is Hanger steak. Completely different cut of meat. Flat iron comes from the shoulder. Hanger steak is right next to the kidneys. I would prefer a hanger steal over the flat iron but both are great if done right. It flat irons I had on Carnival were edible but not great. The second one was like eating a shoe though, lol. A tasty shoe.
