granni10 Posted September 29, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2012 Red always comes up more. Why? Does it matter if the ship is shaking? and why do they have those silly green ones? I've done well just betting red. I've never bet on black, but I've seen people do it. Don't they want to win? Should I bet more? I'm afraid if I keep winning they wont let me play any more. Thanks
Not_Done_Living Posted September 29, 2012 #2 Share Posted September 29, 2012 The green 0 and 00 tilt odds in favor of the house. Red may seem more common but overall, it's 50/50. Play how you will though :) And the more you win, the more they encourage you to play -- so play away!

Janine Posted September 30, 2012 #8 Share Posted September 30, 2012 I use to deal Blackjack, Craps and Roulette for 20 years in Atlantic City. And have to say, I laughed so hard at these posts. All Carnival cruise ships use an American Roulette wheel which consist of 37 numbers, but the highest pay-out is only 35 to 1. (this should be your first warning you are being played by the casino) If you are lucky enough to find a Europeon Roulette wheel elsewhere, this will have 36 numbers as there is no 00, but the highest pay-out is still only 35 to 1 (casino still has an edge). If you think that only playing red will make you a winner, you are wrong. It makes you lucky for a short amount of time. Please remember that a roulette wheel is calibrated daily, the little white ball is changed out during every shift. A dealer could find themselves in hot water is they are caught lookiing at the wheel when they release the ball. Those towers that display what numbers, colors, odd/evens have recently come up are all there to let the player THINK they have an edge. And that little white ball that spins around???? It has no memory! If the number 30 comes up, the next spin the odds are still 37 to 1 that 30 will come up again - which is the same odds that the number 13 will come up. If you do have a system............ you will be detected and if the casino feels you have won too much money from that system, they are within their legal rights to refuse your action. Finally......If you feel the need to gamble, please remember that the casino is there to take your money. The rules are set up to give the house an overwhelming advantage. Have people won? Of course they have - but only 5.26% of the people who walk into a casino will walk out with more money than they walked in with. So 94.74% of the people will donate there money to the casino. Question is: are you feeling lucky?????????????????
Kakboy Posted September 30, 2012 #9 Share Posted September 30, 2012 Haha...I hope you are joking. But in case you aren't: As others have already posted, you have the exact same chance of hitting red as you do hitting black (which is less than 50% because of the greens). But, if playing roulette is working for you then more power to you!

YubaSutter Posted October 11, 2012 #19 Share Posted October 11, 2012 But a coin flip isnt 50/50...... Since there is only 2 options on a coin flip and it has to land on one, a coin flip is indeed 50/50.
cb at sea Posted October 11, 2012 #20 Share Posted October 11, 2012 That's true...the "odds" are based on EACH toss of the coin...not the overall number of heads and tails...... so when there are only 2 choices, 50/50 it is!

Roulette, BJ, craps, slots, etc??? Purely based on odds, the best games are usually Blackjack (straight Blackjack with a 3:2 payout for blackjacks, none of those silly gimmicky variations) and Craps (playing maximum odds when possible, playing only Pass/Don't Pass or Come/Don't Come, avoiding all the other sucker bets).
