Fam of 5 Posted May 24, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 24, 2005 discover there's no better way to cruise than with NCL's Norwegian Wind. VALID PASSPORTS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL PASSENGERS TO SAIL! *Casino will not be open during sailings that call on Hawaii! I just copied this from the NCL web site. Any idea why the WInd would require passports now? No big deal, just curious.

Fam of 5 Posted May 24, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted May 24, 2005 See what happens when you don't read the whole page. I thought this was either a Hawiian or Alaska itenary and I'm was pretty sure that's still the US.
jlines Posted May 24, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 24, 2005 The Hawaii Wind cruise (which it has been doing year round) makes a stop at Fanning Island which requires a valid passport. We had to get passports for a missions trip anyhow so we decided to take this cruise. We loved it. It had some minor glitches but the deal was great and the trip was fantastic! Molokai-Chuck Posted May 24, 2005 #5 Share Posted May 24, 2005 And, any ship that operates out of a port in Hawaii on a regular basis, can offer no casino. chuck
Jim Gallup Posted May 24, 2005 #6 Share Posted May 24, 2005 Actually, the Republic of Kiribati - where Fanning Island is located - doesn't even bother to check if Norwegian Wind passengers have a passport. But the US Immigration Service does check when the Wind returns to the USA after visiting Fanning Island. And they do REALLY care that you have a valid passport when returning to the USA after visiting a "Far Foreign Port" like Fanning Island. If by some chance NCL allowed you to sail to Kiribati (and back) without a passport, they would face a huge fine imposed by US Immigration. Then you would pay a huge fine as well.
