travelgirl101 Posted May 26, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2005 We will be on the NCL Star in July and will be in Victoria from 6pm to midnight. We would like to see the gardens, but really don't want to pay the cost of the ship's excursion. I have heard the gardens sell out on Saturday evenings in July due to their excellent fireworks show. Has anyone had any experience with this? What type of transportation, such as taxis, can we get from the port and what would be the cost? Also, has anyone heard of having problems getting in on Saturday evenings in the summer? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
Budget Queen Posted May 27, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 27, 2005 Sorry but with such a late arrival and Butchart Gardens at least a 20 min. ride away, you are best with the ship excursion. If you still go with independent transportation, cabs are available but be CERTAIN to confirm the pick up time at the garden and as a back up, have phone numbers. Better use of time will involve the ship tours.
cruiseryyc Posted May 30, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 30, 2005 If you are there on a Saturday night I would not even think about taking your own transportation to the Gardens. Take the ship's tour, then if the bus is late getting through all the traffic the ship will still be waiting for you. If your taxi gets stuck in the traffic, you will miss the ship. Steve H Posted May 30, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 30, 2005 I would take the ships tour also I'm sure it's more money but for that short of a stop it's not worth the risk it;s a busy place on a Saturday night.
