tell me more about the sea lions please

We'll be on an NCL ship & there's an excursion to Cayo Levantado where you can swim with sea lions. I love sea lions but have never actually gotten to play with one.

Does anybody run a tour like this independently from the cruise line? If so who do you recommend?

Has anybody done this tour? Are there lots of sea lions? Can you really pet them & swim with them or is this more like Sea World / a zoo where you only get to look, not touch?

All info would be appreciated. TIA
