glrounds Posted November 25, 2012 #26 Share Posted November 25, 2012 I've had cabins near elevators often. Maybe because I sleep very soundly, I don't recall ever an issue hearing them or people getting in or out of them. I did have a small 1A cabin above the Main Showroom and in the afternoon I could hear QUITE PLAINLY the Carnival dancers and singers practicing, however. ray98 Posted November 25, 2012 #27 Share Posted November 25, 2012 Never bothered me anymore than standard hallway noise.
crusinfamof4 Posted November 25, 2012 #28 Share Posted November 25, 2012 We booked on the Dream last year right at the elevators-cabin 7340-the only issue I had was one night teens hanging out on the stairs. I called to guest services and they had someone run them off, never had any further issues and I am a very light sleeper.
MrPete Posted November 25, 2012 #29 Share Posted November 25, 2012 I booked a cabin on the first deck right by a set of elevators and now I am concerned it will be very noisy. Originally I booked it because I thought it would be convienient, but now I'm beginning to regret it. My travel agent says she can try to move it. Thoughts? Had a room right by a bank of elevators. Loved it so much, I booked the same cabin number on a different ship for my next cruise.
beans79 Posted November 25, 2012 #30 Share Posted November 25, 2012 I stayed near elevators once and the people getting on and off the elevators or waiting for them were sometimes very loud. At one point it was 4 am and a couple of people decided to hang out right in front of them and make conversation. They were so loud and it went on for 5 mins. I had to stick my head out my door and ask them to take their little party somewhere else!!!
Sundiego Posted November 25, 2012 #31 Share Posted November 25, 2012 In terms of noise, I'd rather be near elevators than too close to the Stewards' storage room.
*jess* Posted November 25, 2012 #32 Share Posted November 25, 2012 We stayed in one on Fantasy, to be honest we never noticed extra noise either. You're going to hear some hallway noise regardless of where you are, but the noise compared in that room was never any louder than the other rooms we've stayed in. I think it's a huge bonus to be close to the elevator, easier to roll yourself into a room after dinner!
maggie cruises Posted November 25, 2012 #33 Share Posted November 25, 2012 on a Carnival cruise you might.... on a Princess cruise you won't....
PunkyH Posted November 26, 2012 #34 Share Posted November 26, 2012 Well, we had a room that backed up to an elevator. Different room layout. No noise at all.
cruzinlisa Posted November 26, 2012 #35 Share Posted November 26, 2012 You didn't mention what ship you are sailing on. Different ships have different layouts, so while some rooms next to elevators may have noise, others may not. Yes, this. Last cruise we were right near the elevators, in a balcony room, Conquest, Room 6447. We did not hear any noise, because there is a little hall by the elevator. The inside rooms were closer to the elevator, they might have heard something. It looks like one of the inside rooms actually backed up to the elevator. I would have avoided that room. tef43 Posted November 26, 2012 #36 Share Posted November 26, 2012 We've had cabins in close proximity to the lifts twice. No noticeable noise.
Casino Player Posted November 26, 2012 #37 Share Posted November 26, 2012 I booked a cabin on the first deck right by a set of elevators and now I am concerned it will be very noisy. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO july128: My spouse has mobility troubles, she uses a walker, so I try to get us a stateroom near an elevator as well. We have not had any problems due to noise. It is a convience to be near the elevator. That should be your main concern.
bookcreator Posted November 26, 2012 #38 Share Posted November 26, 2012 I booked a cabin on the first deck right by a set of elevators and now I am concerned it will be very noisy. Originally I booked it because I thought it would be convienient, but now I'm beginning to regret it. My travel agent says she can try to move it. Thoughts? We do not find elevators noisy unless you have some very noisy passengers in and out of them. It has been our experience that those incidents are the exception, instead of the rule. Our experience has taught us to stay off of deck one due to the noise from BELOW your cabin. Depending on where you are, there is a 24/7 operation going on below the passenger decks, and if you are in an area where there is a lot of night time work going on (we have had cabins on deck one where they drove forklifts and moved stores below us at night). The lowest deck we will book is 2 for that reason. Being below the pizza place or the Lido deck can be noisy if you are a late sleeper.
HeatherC430 Posted November 26, 2012 #39 Share Posted November 26, 2012 I always book near the elevators if there are rooms available (for convenience). I've never had noise be an issue for me.
SadieN Posted November 26, 2012 #40 Share Posted November 26, 2012 We will be in U114 on the Fantasy which is near the central elevators...do you think it will be a noise problem? You might hear some noise as people walk by. But it's not a constant thing. We had a problem on the Inspiration with the elevator shaft. The mid ship elevator tops off at 9 next to the Casino Bar smoking area. The smoke travels down the shaft/stairs and settles on Riviera (deck 4) for about 2 or 3 cabins in either direction. Never had this problem on the Paradise or Elation. Hopefully it's not a problem on the Fantasy. We have stayed on the bottom deck on many ships and rarely hear anything.
