Tipping in India

Does anyone have any advice on how much to tip in India? Coming from a country where tipping is not the norm, I'm unsure what would be appropriate in different circumstances eg: hotel porter, taxi driver, tour guide, restuarant, cleaner? I don't want to be cheap, but I don't want to overdo it either. Could someone help with the protocol please:confused:

Thanks Black Forrest for those links. There was some great advice on there, and after some more searching some great debates.....but i agree

someone with experience to advise us what to do would be ideal.
