RikkuCat Posted January 14, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2013 On Carnival, is it difficult to get a table for six if you choose anytime dining? I've only been on was cruise and it was with NCL, so I have no experience with traditional dining. The flexibility of anytime dining appeals to our group more than traditional, and I don't think any of us care about having the same waiters or table. We're a flexible group and won't mind if we need to wait a while for a table - we just want to sit together - but if it's impossible or really annoying to get a table for six with anytime dining, we'll go with traditional. Secondly, if we do end up going with traditional dining, how large are the tables? Could the six of us have our own table, or would we be seated with others? We don't mind being seated with others, but if we have an option to sit on our own, we'd like to do that. Also, how do we arrange to eat together? Do we just show up as a group on the first night and tell them we want to sit together, or do we need to let them know in advance?
klmorg Posted January 14, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2013 From experience... Anytime dining & table for 6... no problem!! LOVE Anytime Dining & the flexibility. We did have to wait about 5-10 minutes one night.
michelle1836 Posted January 14, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2013 We did anytime dining for 10 on the Pride and got the same table every night no problem. We did, however, get there at 5:45 when it opened
Cheeseland Cruisers Posted January 14, 2013 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2013 Did 8 on the Legend and had no problems, small waits a night or two but had the same table/servers every night.
RikkuCat Posted January 14, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted January 14, 2013 Thanks to both of you - this is encouraging! If we encounter a wait, we'd just go get a drink, and I don't think anyone in our group is going to care deeply if we end up missing a show or something. We definitely prefer the flexibility! Cheeseland Cruisers Posted January 14, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 14, 2013 We are sailing on the Breeze next week with 10 in our family group and we took anytime dining again. I agree, if we get a wait we find something to do?
bluenoser2 Posted January 14, 2013 #7 Share Posted January 14, 2013 We were just on the Breeze with our party of 6 and there are lots of tables for 6 in Anytime dining. We liked our waiters so much the 2nd night, we requested them the next night, and after that we were just given the same table every night. There was no waiting, granted we went early, and there were some lineups especially on elegant night, around 7:30.
Spudder Posted January 14, 2013 #8 Share Posted January 14, 2013 We were on the Valor and longest wait was 15 minutes for a 6 top...only happened to us once, every other night we were immediately taken to a table. Make sure your accounts are linked so they know that you are a group of 6...

marshhawk Posted January 14, 2013 #10 Share Posted January 14, 2013 We did 6 on a spur of the moment with other roll call members, and they sat us just as quickly as if it had just been the two of us. It was nice to eat with friends.
flippr5657 Posted January 14, 2013 #11 Share Posted January 14, 2013 just make sure that your entire party is together. We had a couple of nights when one couple didn't make it , or showed up late, and we were told that this was a no no.
Colorado Kat Posted January 15, 2013 #12 Share Posted January 15, 2013 On the Liberty last week, they refused to let our table of 4 be seated with others, as they were saving the tables of 10 for big groups that came in wanting to sit together. RikkuCat Posted January 15, 2013 Author #15 Share Posted January 15, 2013 If you choose this option, call and have all reservations linked. Ok, that answers my previous question! Do you only need to do this if you're doing traditional dining, or do you still need to do it if all three couples choose anytime dining?
michelle1836 Posted January 15, 2013 #16 Share Posted January 15, 2013 I dont think we were linked for our anytime group of 10. we did all show up together and then we all gave our cabin numbers to get seated
ChefSusan Posted January 15, 2013 #17 Share Posted January 15, 2013 The only time you have to link booking numbers is when a group of people want to dine together, and all of them have either the 6pm or 8:15pm Traditional seating. For YTD, all you have to do is give your cabin number to the YTD hostess - she will either seat you immediately, or you will be given a pager and asked to wait for your table. And the cool thing is that if you all like your dining room team the first night, you can request them for the rest of the cruise. There may be a bit of a wait, but it's worth it! PittsburghGirlee Posted January 15, 2013 #18 Share Posted January 15, 2013 On the second Elegant night on the Liberty last week, our party of 6 waited over an hour at the bar to be seated. Just sayin'
Angelboys3 Posted January 16, 2013 #19 Share Posted January 16, 2013 We had 6 with anytime dining and never had to wait. We always went about 6:30 and were seated immediately. As pp have stated, you just give them your room numbers. By 7:30 there was always a line and a few groups had pagers
