Have the beds on the Island been replaced recently?

I was on the Island for seventeen days last September/October and thought the bed was very comfortable. Had no trouble sleeping.

There were new mattresses on the Island Princess Nov / Dec 2012. Beds were comfortable & we did not need a egg crate.

They were identical, now the Coral just finished an extensive drydock adding an International Cafe and squeezing in 13 more cabins. :)

As of three weeks ago, no difference. The Coral returned from an extensive dry dock today with some new features, including an International Cafe so I'd have to give the nod to the Coral. However, if the cruise were cheaper on the Island and/or on a better date, I wouldn't hesitate to book her again.

Beds are being replaced on Princess ships on an ongoing basis.

No way to tell if your cabin will have new bedding. :)

we were in a mini suite on the Island in May and had a brand new and very comfortable mattress--no need for an egg crate topper.

I think the Island Princess is going to dry dock in October,so we will see what they do

Island's dryock has been postponed until 2014 but that doesn't matter because as others have posted, mattresses are changed on an ongoing basis at various ports.
