ddy123 Posted February 9, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2013 Just curious how this works? Does it slow things down at Security when carrying wine onboard in your carryon bag? Do you need to do something special if carrying on wine to declare it? Thanks!
gerryl12 Posted February 14, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2013 Partialy it depends on which cruise line you are sailing on. If you are travelling on a line where you have to pay a corkage fee to bring the wine on board then yes it takes more time.
ddy123 Posted February 14, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted February 14, 2013 We will be on Royal Caribbean. I think their corkage fee is assessed on board because it only applies in the Main Dining Room. Curious whether there is an extra stop through the check in process if you are carrying wine on board with Royal. Thanks!
cruisin4kicks Posted February 25, 2013 #4 Share Posted February 25, 2013 We just carried two bottles of wine on the RCI Navigator for the cruise leaving Feb 16 out of NOLA.. Piece of cake. We dropped the wine bottle caddy at one end of the screening machine, watched it go thru, and picked it up on the other side. Don't know if the luggage goes to the naughty room or not when the wine is in the checked luggage but not a problem at all if you carry it on. zlacruising Posted March 12, 2013 #5 Share Posted March 12, 2013 I didn't have a problem either with rccl. It was in my carry on bag and it went right through!!:)
Sixtytwo Posted March 18, 2013 #6 Share Posted March 18, 2013 Carried one 1.5L bottles in our carry on and the scanner never stopped! Even though Carnival says this is against policy! Go figure! One 1.5L is the same as two 750ml bottles but, policy says you can't do one, you have to do the smaller two bottles! Please, don't tell the security folks in NOLA that they are breaking Carnival rules!! ;)
