Cabana occupants limited to four

We got our one week letter from the Allure concierge today for our cruise next week. According to the letter, the limit on number of people occupying a cabana on Barefoot Beach is now 4 people.

It used to be a max of six, so take this info into consideration when planning your cruise.

Not surprised. With the addition of cabanas on Nellie's, the number of people getting lunch on Barefoot has grown tremendously and the lines had gotten very, very long. Sounds like they're trying crowd control. The cabanas really aren't set up for more than about 4 people anyway. There's only two loungers and a "sofa". We have a cabana on Nellie's in March and there will be 4 of us in it. We've had cabanas twice before on Barefoot and I can't imagine having 6 people using it. It doesn't impact us but we'll see if it is enforced on our trip next month.

This will definitely impact familes. Also, cabanas are hard enough to get as it is. Can you imagine trying to secure 2 for your family of 5? If they really have to do something I would suggest a pp surcharge, up to 6 people total in the cabana, rather than requiring an extra cabana.

Were they previously enforcing the 6 per cabana limit?

What needs to be enforced is the allowing of non-suite guests over the limit onto Barefoot by using the Cabanas to get it. They can't stop you letting people into your cabana, but they can control how many people have access to the beach/buffet. They probably won't say anything when suite parents bring their minor kids who aren't staying in a suite, but for control, they have to limit the number of people allowed as it has been getting out of control. In Nov when we were there on Barefoot, we had a cabana (DH and I) and the lines for lunch were very long and seating almost non-existent. Yes, there were two ships, but you could tell that people had the max "assigned" to their cabana. I'm pretty sure people had started letting non-suite guests pay for part of their cabana just to access Barefoot beach.

A family can book a cabana for "4" but bring as many people as they want that have access to the beach and let them in. No one stops anyone from letting people into the cabanas, but as I said above, the number of non-suite, non-eligible cruisers being brought in needs control as it's getting crazy busy.

If this is the case I don't see how limiting it to 4 instead of 6 will make any difference? If they are allowed to bring in any number of friends how will it help?

Everyone should just get a wristband for the beach/buffet. 3 Minors with their parents or 4 or 6 adults, whatever.

This simplifies my decision making process. I had been thinking about renting a cabana, but we are a family of five. Now that I know we won't fit I can cross this off my list of possibilities. This should cause demand for cabanas to go down. I wonder if that is the result they were looking for.

We had a cabana the end of Jan at Nellies beach. We had 5 people in it. Last year we had a cabana at Barefoot beach with 6 people. It does work out because you can ask the cabana boy to bring you extra lounges if there is room for them.

We loved the cabana and it is the only why I will do Labadee.

You can't allow unlimted people in to Barefoot beach just because you rented a cabana. You still only get six wristbands, at least that's what it was two years ago. DW and I had a GS and the eight kids/grandkids had non-suites. We had to rent two cabanas (one in my name one in DW name) so all of us could get into Barefoot. Without a gold card or renting a cabana you can't access Barefoot.

Now if the cabana limit is four I might have to reconsider getting one for the next trip.

We were personally escorted from our nellies cabana into the BB buffet. They seemed very watchful about who was entering. Clip board and list, etc. this was this past December. Have things changed?

We are sailing on Oasis on April 13th 2013. I have booked an over the water cabana at Nellies beach. We are sailing with a group of 7 ...but mostly likely only 6 ( my father in law is likely to stay on the ship) will come to the cabana.

I was under the impression that all 6 ( and possibly even 7 if we asked nicely) of us could gain access to the cabana and upgraded lunch. We figure that there will be very little times that all of us will be IN the cabana at the same time. We just thought it would act as a nice "home base" for the day.

The description on the page I "purchased" said "up to 6 " , so I am definitely hoping that they will at least honor the 6 guests access to our cabana and lunch.

Does anyone have feedback on the nellies beach cabanas? I am getting so excited! Under 2 months to go...although discouraged that our show reservations have not opened up!

Thanks !

Are you talking about the over the water cabanas at Nellie's or some other cabanas? I'm new to this cabana thing. We have a reservation for an OTW cabana in June and I just checked our reservation and it still says "maximum of six". I don't see how they can change that after people have already reserved and paid. Did you verify this with someone? We have three kids so a maximum of four will definitely be a problem.

We have reserved/purchased an OTW cabana at Nellie's Beach for a cruise in December. Personally, I think if they are marketing them as available to 6 people at the time of purchase/reserve, then they should honor resrvations that were made before the "change".

At the present time there will only be 3 people in ours, but we were thinking about inviting another couple to join us, so that would be 5. :D:) I think they are kind of expensive to begin with.

What I meant is that anyone who already has access to the beach can go into the cabana. People have been bringing in others who otherwise wouldn't have access to Barefoot (non suite). This will limit that number. That's how it will make a difference in the numbers. If every cabana was rented by two people in a suite and they invited 4 nonsuite guests to join them, the numbers would be much larger than if they could only invite two. And on Nellie's, the number that's allowed get lunch on Barefoot so that number impacts the total too. That's all.

DH and I love the cabanas. We've rented two out of our three times in a GS on Barefoot and will have one on Nellie's with our friends in March. They're somewhat pricey, but worth it. And, we've spent that much on excursions before, so easy to justify.

OP just sailed yesterday so we should get an answer of some kind soon.
