CruiseWhere Posted February 22, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 22, 2013 Just wondering what the ships may or might do for Easter.
Krazy Kruizers Posted February 22, 2013 #2 Share Posted February 22, 2013 It all depends on the itinerary and the captain and hotel manager. One time we had only 6 children on board -- South America -- and the chef made 6 beautiful chocolate Easter eggs and placed them in the Lido buffet. Sadly a couple of addults ran away with 2 of them -- staff tried catch them. On another ship the Lido was decorated with Paper Easter bunnies and fake flowers in pots. Dinner had "ham" and the trimmings along with other entrees. At that time HAL was using the processed ham. We haven't been on a cruise at Easter in a few years. HALrunner Posted February 22, 2013 #3 Share Posted February 22, 2013 I too have been wondering this. We will be embarking the Ryndam on Easter Sunday for a transatlantic. My little ones have already asked if the Easter Bunny is coming with us on the cruise:)
Typhoon1 Posted February 23, 2013 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2013 There should be a Catholic priest available for an Easter Service.
sail7seas Posted February 23, 2013 #5 Share Posted February 23, 2013 We sailed Easter several times. There are always services and an Easter Dinner. I can't say for sure Easter Bunny came last time we sailed though I do remember that from years ago. Club HAL may have had some Easter fun for the children but remember not everyone celebrates that holiday so don't expect too much.
CruiseWhere Posted February 23, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted February 23, 2013 I was just hoping for some Chocolate Easter Bunnies! ;) OK and maybe and Easter Egg Roll;)
sail7seas Posted February 23, 2013 #7 Share Posted February 23, 2013 I seem to recall they had some chocolate bunnies/chocolate eggs as decoration at on the tables at the entrance to the MDR where they (used to) put the ice sculptures. I don't think we had any chocolate eggs offered but you should feel free to bring package(s) with you. That is perfectly permitted.
sevenseasnomad Posted February 23, 2013 #8 Share Posted February 23, 2013 We sail on Holy Saturday. As Catholics, we appreciate HAL for having priests aboard, and we are especially grateful at major feast days like Easter & Christmas.
VallyD Posted February 23, 2013 #9 Share Posted February 23, 2013 I was curious about this as well, thank you for posting! I will be on the ms Eurodam during Easter the 2nd day :)
DeepWaterMariner Posted February 23, 2013 #10 Share Posted February 23, 2013 We've sailed over Easter on both HAL and Princess. Princess seems to do more for Easter with some elaborate displays and a better feel for a special Easter dinner, but no surprisingly no priest.
