hawkeye3d Posted February 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2013 I just printed my e-doc’s yesterday for our April 11th cruise from HK on Millie. I was taken aback when I read about the boarding time “CHECK-IN_BETWEEN: 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM Ship Check-In Celebrity Cruises will deny boarding to those guests without the proper travel documents / visas or those arriving after the check-in between hours noted above. No refunds will be given to individuals who fail to bring the proper travel documents or show up late.” I can’t help but wonder why the draconian edict. I mean planes are late, stuff happens while traveling but to deny boarding. I’ve been on a number of cruises and I have never heard of anything like this. Is this a Celebrity thing or a Hong Kong port rule, and more important is it enforced ?? Bob
stag Posted March 24, 2013 #2 Share Posted March 24, 2013 I don't think this is a Hong Kong port rule. I have a feeling that this is more to the travel document issue. Since the April 11 cruise terminates in Shanghai, all visitors must have proper passport and Chinese visa. The new 72-hour visa free airport transit does not apply to ships. Despite penalty, Millennium has to take back the no-visa passengers on board for the rest of the year. It ought to be strictly enforced.
Rare ghstudio Posted March 24, 2013 #3 Share Posted March 24, 2013 Isn't normal cruise check in from noon - 4PM normally. Why is this an issue?
