Xoe Posted March 7, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 7, 2013 I'll be on Wind Surf in September from London/Portsmouth to Lisbon. I'll appreciate hearing from anyone who has been to these ports: in Spain, La Caruna and Vigo, and in Portugal, Porto/Lexio. Are these places where you can walk on your own to see the sights/sites, or is it important to book tours? Thank you!
calliopecruiser Posted March 7, 2013 #2 Share Posted March 7, 2013 I have done a land trip that took me to Porto, and it's definitely possible to walk and take transit to visit around the city......but it is quite hilly, so you have to be prepared for that. I don't know about getting from the port into the city, though.

Rare JoePDX Posted March 14, 2013 #4 Share Posted March 14, 2013 Vigo is very walkable. The ship will dock right at the base of the city. However, there is not much to see or do in Vigo. It's an industrial port city. My suggestion would be to take the train to Santiago de Compostella. Lots of history there and it's a charming city. The Cathedral is a nice stroll from the train station. In Vigo, we took a cab to the train station in the morning as it's up hill. On the return, be just walked back to the ship.
