latadj98 Posted June 10, 2005 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2005 Hi everyone, just booked this cruise departing 3/26/06 for a 7 night western Carribean cruise with my wife and 2 children, 13 and 15. I'm really excited, however, a little hesitant since my wife made the arrangements and I didn't have a whole lot of input !! I usually like to over analyze everything and make the arrangements myself. I've only cruised one other time, Royal Caribbean, and it was great. Just wondering if anyone has taken this particular cruise and what to expect (over analyzing again). Your feed-back is welcomed, both good and bad. Thanks !! wardidaho Posted October 4, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 4, 2005 Part of the fun about vacationing, especially cruising, is the anticipation and research that leads up to the trip - at least for me. Enjoy the planning and research for a few months vs. just the 7-day cruise - extend the joy of your vacation!! I've been on 4 cruises and learn something new every time. There's lots of info available, take it for what it's worth and enjoy your journey!! Everyone adds a unique perspecitive - take it or leave it...but if you ask, expect honest and diverse opinions  WardIdaho
jimbug Posted October 4, 2005 #3 Share Posted October 4, 2005 I'll be on the same cruise, just 2 weeks earlier! I, too, am freaking out a little because there just simply isn't as much info out there on Costa as there is on Carnival or Princess or whatever. However, I think that will be part of the fun...I won't be the one others in my party look to for "guidance" on what to do or where to go on the cruise because I've done all the research! Woohoo! wardidaho Posted October 4, 2005 #4 Share Posted October 4, 2005 Does anyone know if Costa uses salt water or fresh water in their pools?? We're on the Magica on 3/26/06 :D Thanks!
goldencup Posted October 5, 2005 #5 Share Posted October 5, 2005 It's chlorinated salt water and makes your eyes very sore if you open them underwater. Simple answer - don't. (Well that's what I told my son who complained about it anyway!)
bonesman Posted October 11, 2005 #6 Share Posted October 11, 2005 We're looking at the Magica in March. Have read thorough reviews of the ship's Med. qualities. Have questions regarding how the other Costa ships have modified their food, dinner seating times, nightlife(especially for teens) etc, for the Caribbean setting. I would assume the European differences revert to the typical patterns the other cruise lines share for the Caribbean, still keeping the Italian motif. Any experience or comments on this? Thanks. charleyb Posted October 12, 2005 #7 Share Posted October 12, 2005 We are also booked on the Magica for the first week of April along with several friends. I to was a little skeptical at first but have tried to read everything I could and feel a little better now.....I am waiting until the Magica gets to the Caribbean in late November to read some cruise critic reviews. It should be a very interesting cruise and different I am sure than the ones with Carnival, RCCL, etc....
