Will be on the Dawn very soon sounds like the MDR witch one would it be? Or is there a better place on the Dawn.

Probably the Venetian MDR (the larger of the 2 MDRs).

On the Pearl it would be the Summer Palace correct? I was on the Star last so I'm not sure what one would be open on the Pearl. Thanks!

Yes, Summer Palace is the larger of the 2 MDRs. So, if NCL is consistent, that's the one that will be open for lunch on embarkation day.

Have no problem going to the buffet for a quick bite as I want to get out and explore the ship. Don't want to wait to order and for the food to arrive.

We enjoy going to the Great Outdoors even if we are in a suite. (you have six more lunches you can have at Cagneys) They have many of the same items as on the buffet, less crowded. Of course we are usually one of the first people at the port (10-11ish). Get a table by the railing and watch everything that's happening.
