Iceman2a - This may seem like a silly question to ask, but 'why' is E438 priced as an obstructed view? Based on your picture, it looks perfect (especially versus some of the other OV cabins like E608 - night and day difference). Just wanted to make sure I didn't misunderstand something.

E438 is a BV and they do note that it "could be partially obstructed." Maybe the OV is just because when you look straight down you see the promenade area. Also you are on the same level as the tops of the life boats and crane equipment for them, so that might block your view directly forward or aft?

I would have been very happy with that cabin and the view.

We are booked for the Baltic/Scandinavian Cruise in Aug. We will be staying in Emerald 502 stateroom - Royal Princess. I was just wondering; how much obstructed view it will have? I was assured that I will still see the horizon. And, now, I'm having ambivalent feelings about it. Should weupgrade or just stay? Any advise, please....

Here are a couple of exterior pictures of Royal Princess showing E502 showing it's placement in the line of lifeboats and davits:

So the view should be very similar to this...

Hi,

We are booked on the seven-day Mediterranean cruise of the Regal Princess that departs from Venice on June 2, 2014. We originally booked stateroom M118 (category BZ obstructed balcony) but recently were upgraded to E508 (category DW obstructed deluxe balcony). I think the obstruction with M118 is a solid panel below the railing. However, the obstruction with E508 is a lifeboat or davit. Do you think this is an improvement? At least the new stateroom is larger and more conveniently located to the public rooms.

It wouldn't be for us. We have M118 booked for next April on the Royal. We specifically marked No Upgrade because I knew we could get upgraded to a deluxe obstructed balcony. From all the photos I have seen, M118 doesn't have an obstruction. It did during construction but the steel was removed. We also wanted to be close to the Retreat Pool.

I check our Cruise Personalizer everyday to make sure we still have M118.

Cheers, Denise

We are in E407 on the Royal Princess, so do you think we would have this same view? AFter seeing some of these pictures I'm kind of thinking of moving up to a mini-suite.

We were in E405 and there is no obstruction. Your room would have a larger, angled balcony. We loved our room, very centrally located! You will be very happy with this room and the view! any other questions, let me know...

Hi,

Thanks for the advise. I agree with you. I called Princess today and was able to change to a category BE (C215 - standard balcony - unobstructed) for the same price. I think we will be much happier with this stateroom. Also, I asked them to mark this as "no upgrade."

Thanks,

Chuck

Hey....I wil be in cabin r106 on the royal princess. Is this cabin bigger than the other deluxe balconies?...also how is cabin r108?

Thank you

Niki

Deluxe balconies cabins are nearly all identical in size, only the balcony size may change.

R106 and R108 are identical in size to all other 'standard sized' Deluxe Balcony cabins on this ship, as are the balconies the same size as all other standard sized balconies on this ship. No larger, no smaller.

Does anyone have a balcony picture of cabin E 405 on Royal Princess

Attached are some photos of E408 which is next door to E406 (on opposite side) which is representative of the cabin size. I will post additional photos of the balcony shots of E404 which illustrates the views from E406/E405. E405 and E406 have clear views out and down.

Does anyone have a balcony picture of cabin E 405 on Royal Princess

Here are ten photos of E404 balcony and two photos of E406 balcony taken from adjacent 408 balcony. Balcony E405 is identical to E406 but on opposite side of ship.

I'm looking at booking The Regal Princess for Aug in the Med, I took some footage of Royal last year when we were on Carnival Sunshine, hope this might help people with balcony questions.

Thanks loads for this video.... It is the best view ever I've had of my E 412 balcony on the Regal for November! ;-)

So we booked a guarantee obstructed balcony cabin (BZ) on the Royal and were assigned E323 (Deluxe Obstructed Balcony - DW -technically an upgrade). Does anyone have any pictures of this? Also, does anyone know if I can call Princess and see if they would "downgrade" us to an unobstructed balcony since we booked on a guarantee? Thanks!

I do not have a picture of e323, but we were fortunate enough to be upgraded to e409. Truly unobstructed and a Hugh balcony. E323 as I remember does have lifeboats outside but not sure of the exact obstruction.

You can always request Princes Not to upgrade you and take a chance on where the cabin will be within your category. And don't forget DW is mid ship. Just don't let the room dictate whether you have a great time or not.
