St. Thomas car rental

We will be visiting St. Thomas on the Freedom of the Seas during the week of April 21, 2013. Has anyone had any experience renting a jeep or car? It is preferable to using a taxi for the day? Any tips?

Thanks

Pat

Very quick answer is you can do either depending on your choices.

We prefer to rent and drive but we've been to STT on several cruises as well as stayed at the Sapphire Resort twice so we know the island pretty well. Very easy island to drive, but as anywhere you can miss a turn and waste some time. A simple map like the attached is all you need.

Taxis are easy if you don't want to drive, the rates are posted at vinow dot com under St Thomas, Taxis

So it just depends on your plans and what makes most sense. If you're going to go several places and mhave several ppl renting is the best option financially. If just going to a beach and then downtown or Paradise Point a taxi works well.
